Oh well, back on the wagon tommorrow!
corbint Sat, June 5th, 2004, 09:44 AM occasional cheat days are GOOD, your thyroid will thank you! in fact, a good rule of thumb is to do a cheat day once a week if you are working hard toward your fat loss goals, since a constant caloric deficit can and will wreak havoc on your thyroid and the chemical processes it supports.

That is the key right there. Don't let it turn into a cheat weekend/cheat week. If this is the first cheat in two months, then that is very impressive! :gl:

Strapped Sat, June 5th, 2004, 03:50 PM Those cheat meals every once in while also help keep your metabolism in check because it shocks your system.

Bean Sat, June 5th, 2004, 06:40 PM My cheat days, have never been realllyyyy bad in the past, more like a dinner at a restaurant with some freinds, while still drinking water,
well, my first cheat in about 2 weeks was yesterday. some freinds wwere planning a party, so i just decided id screw up the whole day :)
so i woke up, i still went jogging on an empty stomach like ido every morning, because i know i wouldnt be able to do it today..
so for breakfast.. i had oatmeal, cooked with milk, and then i covered it wiht cinnamon and honey, and milk ontop. plus i had a king siye snickers (yes this is still breakfast)
then on the way to work, i stopped at a bakery, picked up 2 slices of some good cake, and bought some other stuff.
by lunchtime, i was out of food :( so i head to the store, i bought a can of pringles, 5 reg. snickers bars a 225 gram bag of mm peanuts (about 1 lb i think) and i bought half a gallon of choklate milk. and since i wanted something decent, i also got a sandwich that contained a lot of mayo, and everyhting i usually dont eat...
at about 3 pm i had gone through the pringles (my lips were so wrinkled) the mms were opened, but werent going anywhere... and the choclate milk was gone. then i stopped eating until i got to the party. there throughout the night, i ate so much, including the snickers bars , someone jacked my leftover mms :( i also had about 8 or 9 beers while i was there, and i ate everyhting that looked as if it was edible. at about 3 am, i went to sleep at my freinds house. and this morning i had oats with jogurt (a lot) and 2 eggwhites (boiled) and some bacon.. and then i was at work until 12. then i came home and slept. i woke up at 6, cooked some spaghetti, with tuna sauce.. and i ate that. and now its 12, and im gonna eat some pnuts and head to bed. 2 morrow is back ontrack 100 percent tho..
my scale says i have gained a kilo, and my body fat is up 2 percent.. but i think the scale is just messing up.. (i hope)
we need a forum, just for people to post their cheat days, or a General Health Disscusion section where this stuff can go.. because i for one feel so guilty after a cheat day, i just have to tell it to someone..
taffer Sat, June 5th, 2004, 08:09 PM just cos you gained a kilo, after a big cheat like that, doesnt mean its all fat!
think of it this way, if you ate 10,000 calories in a day(which is quite an effort), thats a bit under 3lbs, now there is NO WAY IN HELL thats all fat, infact you will probly crap out most of it cos its useless to your body! especially if you get back onto a nutrient dense diet! or it will goto making your lifts better that week! and also give your metabolism a nice boost
TheLemonSong Sat, June 5th, 2004, 08:17 PM Lots of you seem to take cheat meals and cheat days...
I really don't. Between my first phase (3 months) and my current phase I took a cheat weekend and had pizza one night and got drunk at an upscale club the next night...other than that I really haven't taken any kind of cheat days...is this a good thing or a bad thing?
taffer Sat, June 5th, 2004, 08:19 PM john didnt cheat for about 6 months, i know i havent either, maybe even longer! and its not bad at all
if you like healthy food tons, i would suggest doing a huge vegie binge at one point (you gotta start bulking sometime!!!)
Bean Sun, June 6th, 2004, 08:39 AM cheating is not necessary, but people say, that the overload, will shock your metabolism and make it go really fast, and that can last you for a week, giving you more energy. since i dont like the cheat days very much, because i get bloated and i feel bad for them, i am going to from now on, over eat a healthy food on a cheat day, like eat a huge ammount of oatmeal, or eat a can of peanuts :eat: .. this would be very beneficial if you completely overate every 1-3 weeks at least some "healthy foods" ..
but EVERYONE has their own opinion, and i for one am not expert on any level.. :tucool:
HobbesAB Sun, June 6th, 2004, 09:02 AM I look at cheat days as a day of increased calories - not eat anything I want. Sometimes, the line is blurred, but I try to keep it clean. The key word is "try" but I don't stress about it if I fail to keep it clean.
By the way, I love working out after a cheat day. The increased calories and extra water "pump" me up and I go really heavy and really intense during my workout.
TeMpTeD Sun, June 6th, 2004, 11:57 AM Its so easy to let a cheat meal get out of control and turn it into a cheat day. Personally, I like to have one cheat meal every week where I just eat what I want, and I still drink water. Then as soon as that meal is over its back to cutting hardcore again. I'm going for a 2 week stint now without a cheat meal to get back on track.
