Everytime I go full force and do me strict cutting diet I get sick, EVERY single time, never fails. I take a multivitimin, green tea extract pills, eat green veggies, and drink at least 1.5 gallons of water per day. Now I ask you, what is the reasoning behind this? And does this happen to any of you guys? Is this my body's way of trying to fight the diet and increased exercise?

I'm 215lbs and I am eating around 100 grams of carbs (low) per day with around 200 grams of protien and between 2200-2500 calories per day. I'm also taking an ECY stack (clenbutreX by VPX).

Any help is much appreciated

Sick like a cold or flu or like stomach upset all the time? Need more info. Thanks.

It mostly starts off with a sore throat, then it gets worse and a slight fever.....then the weak feeling starts and the lightheadedness. No stomache problems at all.

Sounds like your eating is ok. How about the amount of sleep you get and are you perhaps overtraining with too much lifting.

I use to get sick when I started weight lifting in the past but I think it was because I cut out too much food, overtrained, and I had sleep apnia that caused me to never ever get any rem sleep. Find out if you are a heavy snorer hook up a camera and sound recording for a night of sleep. When I got the results from my sleep study I was waking up every 30 or so seconds! and never getting to rem sleep. That was the cause of getting sick for me. I have lost 40 lbs now and I do not need a CPAP machine anymore to sleep but I used one when I started this time and I did not get sick.

I've been cutting for a while and have gotten sicker than normal.

Keep in mind I can't remember the last time I was so sick I had to just lay out for a week.

My two incidents:

"Food poisoning" -- I mixed some canned salmon with a Boca burger. My stomach decided that was a bad idea. Barfed it up and all my energy with it. That took 1 day to recover from
I've gotten a sore throat here and there. It's lasted 2 to 3 days.
If I were you, and this happens with out fail, I'd drop the ECY stack.

Seriously, you probably don't really need that stuff.

If I have this right you are eating:

200 Grams Protein=800 cals
100 Grams Carbs= 400 cals
Subtotal= 1200 cals

Up to 2500 cals consumed - 1200 cals from prot and carbs.
1300 cals coming from fat=144 grams of fat.
Your split is then: 32% Prot / 16% Carb / 52% Fat.

At 2200 cals your split is: 36% Prot / 18% Carbs / 45% Fat

No so hot if this is correct. I don't know if it's causing you to get sick but it probably is not helping to keep your body operating in top form. Perhaps the diet combined with increased physical demands is causing you to get rundown quickly and then you tend to catch something. If I'm wrong about your diet split then pardon me. If I'm right then I would say please examine again what you are consuming. I'm no doctor but that's my 2 cents. :D

I get about 7-9 hours a night, but I know I do wake up and turn over many times during the night...that might be because of the ECY stack, but i'm not sure. The ECY helps me alot when cutting. It stoppes my cravings for chocolate and gives me energy to do things. But I do cycle it so dont think I do it all the time.

I am not overtraining with weights at all. My theory is that my body is just trying to get me to stop cutting so much food. Probably a crazy theory, but I think the human body is capable of some pretty amazing things.

Hmmm, I dont think that is right then. I will go over to fitday.com and reconfigure everything. The fat I mostly consume is from the Natural Peanut Butter and my 1 glass of 1% milk I have during the day. Maybe I'm not comsuming enough calories as I though I was. I will post back on here tomorrow when I see exactly i'm consuming from Fitday. Thanks

some ppl do not handle low carbing well and maybe you are one of them. 100 grams is very low, especially for your stats, so maybe adjust your ratios for a couple of days and see how you feel. from my personal experience, i feel pretty crappy under 100g carbs and i'm less than half your weight. another thing could be the clen AND the green tea extract in combination is a lot of stimulants. maybe the thermo effect making your body temp rise makes you think you are ill/feverish? also, i know lightheadness/dizziness is a known possible side effect of the clen (ephedra) . you could try cutting down or dropping them completely. just my thoughts - i'm far from an expert on this.

I've only tried low-carbing once, some years ago. I felt truly disgusting around day 4-5. I was having serious stomach cramping and just felt totally drained.

When I'm dieting now I'll have around 1800 calories/day. 160 grams or so of protein (sure I should get more, but oh well!), the rest is mainly carbs without much fat. Although I'm constantly hungry, I'm not at all sick. I bet that if I was down to 100 carbs/day I would be. I just need them.

Ok, I finished my computing on Fitday.com and noticed that I wasent getting nearly enough calories for my BW. That must have brought my immune system down and caused overtraining so this is my own fault. But with my new calculations and by adding in a few snacks and a meal here are my new calculations, tell me if they sound ok.

Calories: 2101
Protien: 231
Carbs: 201
Fat: 51

Thats a 45/33/22 diet, is this Ideal or should I still take in some more calories for my 215 lb frame?

**The lightheadedness I can deal with , its the sore throat that bothers me.

I get sick all the time but thats cause i live on a ship . Actually since cutting out junk food and most red meat (still eat the 97% lean beef) and lowering my cals to 1850 a day (im 205 lbs) Ive never been healthier i dont get sick im tired alot but thats cause of a lack of sleep.

Just to add another voice to the mix, I think you've probably found the culprit. Since I started weight training, I have noticed that I get that sick feeling a bit more often (and I rarely ever get sick). In my case, its always been related to overtraining as a result of too few calories and sleep. My body can't handle the volume of work that I demand of it due to the restricted calories and lack of rest.

Yup Hobbs, thats the exact reason that I've come up with for me. I'll just have to lower my volume on weight lifting or add an extra rest day.

I bet you won't get so rundown with more carbs in there. Your cals should be fine since you are cutting. Especially since you are doing weights.

"Food poisoning" -- I mixed some canned salmon with a Boca burger."

NO way!? What the hell made you do THAT?!

I can eat just about anything, but that concoction sort of makes me quiver.
