View Full Version : Creatine loading, is it really necessary
madewla Sat, January 31st, 2004, 02:59 PM Like the topic said, is it really necessary to do the creatine loading phase? Sorry if this question is asked before, but cant i just take 5g a day like it said on the back of the creatine box (i have the GNC Pro Performance Creatine Monohydrate BTW but havent took it yet). Oh and another thing, if i dont go gym, do i need to take creatine? For example, i go gym on monday & tuesday and take creatine both day 5g, but wednesday i dont go, i dont need take creatine ya?
p/s: im noobie, sorry if bad english and if question asked before, but need help :o
SCHTEEVIE Sat, January 31st, 2004, 03:09 PM loading is not really an issue - it just means it will take 5 days or so before your system is saturated for it's full effects to kick in.
but you do need to take it every day.
it is something that stays in your system 24/7 provided you keep the dosage consistant.
It is not literally for each individual workout.
(you actually take it after your workout to replenish what the workout depleated)
you should notice about 5 pounds of water retention weight gain (that you lose when you cycle off of it), pumps should be more intense and last longer and you should feel that you can lift abit more.
*note*
Be sure to drink 4-6 litres (1 gallon) of water every day!
Creatine works by hydrating your muscles, so you need the water
but more importantly, the only real negative thing about creatine is potential kindey damage if you don't drink enough water and force your kidneys to process concentrated creatine.
having said all that, I didn't gain any water weight (or lose any when I went off creatine) and I didn't notice a pump or added strength. Apparently 30% of people are "non responders" to creatine - I think I am one of them.
I don't bother with it now.
Chris_Otto Sat, January 31st, 2004, 03:15 PM I've seen different loading techniques and on BB.com there are several articles that deal with it. Most of the articles do state that no matter what loading is used, the results seem to be the same.
I personally followed the 20 g load/5g maintenance. I did notice I was holding more water and when I went off, after a few days I felt a little bit weaker.
Jono Sat, January 31st, 2004, 06:52 PM loading is a waste. marketing scam.
first time i took creatine, zero loading phase, next workout i noticed an insane difference.
they've done test. load vs no load.. in the end, the people that load get to point x a tad faster than the other guy. but in the end, everyone got to point x
taking creatine when you dont need it, IE loading phase.. just saturates muscle and reduces workout performance
