I have just recently started Tanning. It's on there cheapest bed, for unlimited time per month. The max time on the bed is 20 minutes.I went today for 13 min and tonight I am red all over, little itchy but nothing bad. My first question is, how long should I wait till I go again? My second one is, how long does it usually take to achieve a base tan?
Thank you

Dont use sun beds, where I am it is always sunny and there are lovely clean beaches all over the island. I would recommend you wait till the sunburn goes down completely, 2-4 day since tanning. In the mean time you need a good after sun which you will mosturise the parts you are tanning. The after sun will help the sunburn go down quicker preserver the tan better and prevent peeling if you are prone to it. Keep the aftersun in the fridge so its nice and cool when you place it on your body.
Happy tanning

Detest Tanning Beds. I know that 45 mins a side works very well for me in the Desert Sun. Anything beyond that I do burn just a little. I don't know squat about tanning beds so I probably shouldn't have replied. LOL oh well.

My farmer's tan is coming along nicely. I'll have bronze forearms and pasty shoulders in no time :D

You should wait until all your burn has gone away and then one or two days more to make sure your skin is completely healed. Next time definitely don't go for longer than 13 minutes and consider a few minutes less.

I've heard you should never tan more than every-other day, even if you don't get burnt.

It depends on what you classify as a base tan. You can probably get a light tan within 3 to 4 sessions, depending on how well you tan.

HAHA mine too!...

:)

I have been wearing a neck bead chain sort of thing, and I have this big line around my neck....

when I went for a haircut the other day I came out with a white line where my hair had been growing, so now I have 2 stripes in my neck.

EVerybody is different. For me, I get burned the first time I tan, then after that I can go once a week for 20 min and be good for the summer. The people at my salon recommend going 2-3 times a week for 10-15 min for 2 weeks or so until you get your base, then once a week for 20 min after that. More than once a week for me dries the hell out of my skin.

Well, the main reason I like the tanning beds is a get a decent 13 minutes sleep. I think by tomorrow the burn will go down and I will go again. I would like to have a decent amount of color in 2 to 3 weeks of going every 2nd or 3rd day. I always considered myself Mirror white :D . And a Tan does make you look slimer and all around better I think. Also, does anyone here use Tanning oils or accelerations? Are they worth it?
Thanks

I use "Shift". It seems to make a difference. Last week I forgot to put some on my face. The next day, my face was beet red, but the rest of my body was a nice brown. If you get some, look for some on the Internet, because I paid $50 in the salon.

So when I was about to tan I read the machine warning label. It mentions that this can raise the skin ageing level. Now what do they mean by this? If done in large amounts? IF prolonged exposure occurs? Does lying in the sun do this as well? Any info on this would be great, thank you.

Well one of my friends goes kind of often. Her skin looks horrible now and she's only 21. She has to wake up in the middle of the night and put lotion on her skin to keep it moist....but the same thing can happen with just the sun. It's like anything in life, TOO much and you'll get some negative results. Going every so often won't make a big deal but just don't get addicted to it and you'll be fine. Think of suntanning as smoking. Here and there no big deal...do it all the time = trouble.

Your biggest enemy is Skin cancer, stay of the sun beds.
