View Full Version : i slipped....... tashimarie Tue, June 1st, 2004, 11:00 PM after 2 weeks of slowly going back to eating JUNK, i have gained 7 pounds *sigh*.......looks like im back to the diet! TheLemonSong Tue, June 1st, 2004, 11:04 PM Don't say you're back to the diet, say you're getting back to clean eating and a clean lifestyle...Someone else on these boards said that if you're walkin' up some stairs and you slip, you don't go all the way back to the bottom and start again! You get up where you left off, and you focus and you perservere!! We all believe in you!! :jumping: (and the jumping smiley ought to make you smile!) tashimarie Tue, June 1st, 2004, 11:05 PM thanks! :D metron9 Tue, June 1st, 2004, 11:45 PM Don't worry about it. Last Thursday I went out to a french restraunt that I use to eat at at least twice a month. I ate all the french bread I could eat, cream of mushroom soup, and filet megnon with bearnaise sauce. ( no fries though had the green beans) I was stuck at around 198 lbs for 3 weeks or so. Then I ate teppenyakki with all the sauces very high in carbs. I went up to 203 by Saturday. Today is Tuesday and I just weighed in before bed at the lowest night reading ever 196. I expect I will be 195 by morning ( a new low) so get back in the grove and eat the clean stuff again and you will drop that 7+ more. akm3 Wed, June 2nd, 2004, 01:11 AM Don't get discouraged. Just a temporary setback in your new healthy/clean eating LIFESTYLE. Just say "I had some cheat food, I enjoyed it, and now I'm eating clean again" -Allen sublime_4_life Wed, June 2nd, 2004, 05:33 AM well first of all just try gettin back on track (which is what you are doing ;) ) but second of all...that 7 lbs will come off A LOT faster than you think!! I went through the same thing you did just recently. Last week i totally ate like crap. I mean waaaaaaaaaaay off track of what i usually ate like. Pizza late at night, curly fries, cereal like 4 times a day, cookies or dessert probably everyday. I dunno what my prob was but i was just sick of dieting and eating clean and so i gave up...well for a week that is. Ps - saturday was a BBQ which consisted of drinking (a lot) from noon till 10pm and i ate chips pretty much all day and some chicken, a burger, and ribs. AKA pure hell on my diet lol. Anyways my point is...is that when sunday came around i decided to get back on track and clean myself up. I weighed myself sunday night...i was at 173...this was a jump from 157 from the beginning of the week. I gained like 15-16lbs over the week. When i saw that...I FLIPPED i thought i was screwed. Well instead of giving up i got back to eating healthy again...oatmeal and eggs in the morning instead of 3 bowls of cinnimon toast crunch (i told you i TOTALLY got off track lol) etc... and 3 days later im down to 161 already. So i guess all the sugar and sodium polluted my body cause eventhough im not back down to where i was, i dropped 10lbs in a few days (this was not starving myself or anything. I was still taking in about 2200-2400 cals). So ill weigh myself again at the end of the week and see how im doing... Point is...get back on track...no matter how bad your diet gets off track you can always get back on it ya know? I think i was just depriving myself of a lot of things i wanted so i said screw it! im giving in :tu: But good luck with gettin back on track and dont sweat the 7lbs, at worst i guess you just gained MAYBE 1 actual lb of fat (an extra 3500 cals) ps - i still kept my training through that week, lifting intensly 4 days and cardio 2x simon.karlsson Wed, June 2nd, 2004, 06:41 AM Most of us all will eventually esperience one sort of set back or another. I´ve felt like I have been having a few too many cheat days theese past 2 weeks.. but have now regained my health thinking. I´ve realized the best way is to actually write down everything you eat even on cheat days. In that way you don´t forget what you´ve eaten and feel bad about it. You simply have to accept that it´s your cheat day and you´re allowed 1000 more calories or whatever. Or eat junkfood or drink alcohol. You´ll be back to your earlier weight in just a sec, just be patient. Good Luck!. Todd411 Wed, June 2nd, 2004, 11:47 AM "Success is a journey, not a destination." What got me into trouble previously was the "all or nothing" mentality. Can you say yo-yo dieter? When I accepted there were going to be set backs and that with anything there is an ebb and flow. Enough cliches yet? Not yet! Never give up, never surrender! :bb: If I can make the changes then you can make the changes. I just got back from the doctor for a follow up visit and he told me how much weight I'd lost since I first started seeing him 2 years ago and then how much I'd lost since the first of the year. I was totally floored. I knew that I had lost that much but when I hear it come from someone else I have to step back and say, "whoa" </Keanu Reeves>. Hang in there, pull yourself up by your boot straps and keep up the good fight! </cliches> Todd after 2 weeks of slowly going back to eating JUNK, i have gained 7 pounds *sigh*.......looks like im back to the diet! niko Wed, June 2nd, 2004, 07:27 PM My goodness people, if you are gaining 7 to 15 lbs just from eating a bunch during the week, it's not all going to be fat. Your body can only metabolize so much in a day you know. It's going to be lots of salt and water, and more food in your gastro system, which all add up to more weight. Of course some of it may be fat, but not as much as you think. And in my opinion, if you are gaining that much from just eating heavy for a few days, you were starving yourself too much to begin with. Over this weekend I ate way more than usual, I had burgers and fries, and French toast, sausage, eggs, bacon, and mcchikens and burgers, and I have not gained any weight, in fact I think I've lost a pound. You have got to put a cheat day in each week, to keep your metabolism going ! 7 lbs in a week is a pound a day. Do you honestly think you ate 3500 calories over normal on those days? I doubt it ! That's a lot of extra food, even if it was fast food you would stop being hungry for sure, before you stuffed that much in your face, at least as long as you didn't eat fast food for every meal. Most of the weight is going to be water and extra stuff in your bowels from eating more. -niko Jim Wed, June 2nd, 2004, 10:03 PM It happens. I went off for two weeks while bal. I gained a small bit of weight, but I lost most of it pretty fast, I still ate semi-clean (lots of water, veg), but also ate a good lot of junk food. But before that I couldn't under a certain weight, it seems to have helped me, I'm under that weight now. Maybe it's because I worked harder, but it doesn't feel like I did. What I'm say is don't worry about it, just don't do it all the time ;) |
