***POST REVIEWS IN THIS THREAD***

I noticed the old thread and no one has actually seen the movie. I saw Supersize Me about a week ago. It is extremly well done, and is a real eye opener. The movie is actually very entertaining for a documentary.

I'm reviewing this movie as a former obese teen weighing in at 303lbs, now down to 199 after 2 and a half years of determination and full-out obsession with healthy living. I've totally changed my life and I'm now a certified personal trainer. That being said, this movie confronts the problems of rising obesity/weight issues, and the absolute lack of solutions in mainstream America. "Supersize Me" was made to confront these issues and the information presented is flat out disturbing.

The film is mostly an attack on eating habbits and America's value of health and fitness than an attack on McDonald's. I really think that most of you would really enjoy it because this community is very well informed on proper nutrition and wellness.

There were parts of the movie that had me outraged with the way that people think of nutrition and especially dieting. This includes one scene where a very obese young girl is discussing the Subway diet with Subway spokesman Jared. She claims that "eating right and exercising just doesn't work for her" and that she knows that if she had the money to be on a full-on Subway diet she would lose weight.

I don't want to ruin the whole movie, so I'll stop here. GO SEE THIS FILM, it is well worth it, even if only for motivation. I felt even more motivated to continue on my path of health and well-being after seeing the film.

I'd like to congratulate you on this reversal. I am currently working to become certified as an ACE personal trainer (Aug 8 is the test date), and I too was once an obese teenager, weighing in a year ago at 245 and weighing in this morning at 180lbs. Outstanding to see more teenagers taking control of their obesity before it becomes a lifelong problem!

As for the movie, I really want to go see it, but it's not showing in any theaters near my house, so I'm going to have to wait. Ah well, thanks for the review, I'll catch it at Blockbuster!

Yup, the movie is a must see for anyone who is health-concious.

As far as personal training goes, I'm now certified, but as you will soon see it's very difficult to get your foot in the door and land a job at a gym. I think its mostly because I'm 19 years old and people just don't want to put their fitness in the hands of such a young person. Oddly enough, I'm much more knowledgeable than any trainer at my gym. I've been concentrating on the marketing side of the industry right now.

Also, it is amazing to see the lack of knowledge in the industry. During my training course, I needed to explain the transverse abdominals to the Pro-Trainer and that stomach vacuums (keggels) were an excellent way to train them. They were also unfamiliar with the basics like Arnold presses (for shoulders), and had no clue to the actual science behind weight loss. Many of the students were shocked to find out that there are 3500 cals in 1 lb fat and other essential facts.

Best of luck to you in your path to certification, and beyond!
