View Full Version : Shake it up before AM cardio? More on AM hydration.

I just received the Tom Venuto newsletter that takes a look at fat loss techniques and describes their pros and cons in a rating system (1-3). The early morning AM cardio rated as risk of 3 (high) and benefit of 3 (high). The reasoning being because there's a chance of muscle being used for fuel. Then there was a suggestion of a protein shake first thing and then cardio shortly afterwards. This took the risk down to 2 (moderate) and the benefit remained at 3.

I tried it this morning, though I think I did the cardio too soon after ingesting the shake. It did make me feel somewhat bloated and caused some gas. :o Given that I'm taking a week off at the gym this week I'll be interested to see what my strictly cardio week is going to look like on Saturday when I weigh in. Results to follow. Anyone else doing this, done this and what were the results?

I've taken 20oz of water with me on my morning jogs for the last two days now. I've been able to curtail fluid loss of about a pound using this and it helps with my endurance. I picked up a hydration fanny pack for $10.00 over the weekend that suits my needs well. It's the type with the bottle in the back that sits at a 45 degree angle and makes it easy to pull while you're on the go. Morning hydration? Recommended! :tu:

I'm quasi-lactose intolerent so I can't do whey before my cardio because eating dairy before intense sessions of running make me really sick to the stomach. Could be why you had some gas as well.
