I have trouble remembering to log my activity. Since I basically leave this forum open all the time on the computer at home, I think logging activity here might be easier than logging it somewhere else.

Fitness Goals:
-Achieve 15% BF
-Be able to run 6 miles in one hour
-Be able to do 10 pullups in a row
-Be able to reach 15 cm past my toes in a seated pike position
-Increase agility (not sure how to measure this)
-Be able to hold a steady handstand for 10 seconds

-------------------------------------------

Activity Today:
-9 minutes boxing on the heavy bag, a few round kicks thrown in to try out some different combinations, no timed rounds, just getting used to the feel, moderate intensity
-30 minutes on the recumbent stationary bike, moderate intensity, level 1, 7+ miles
-10 minutes stretching

Eating Today:
-did well, turned down cake at co-worker's going away party, ate only clean foods

Day Fit Rating: 7

Freemason, you look so sophisticated in your new avatar! I like it :D

I think you'll enjoy journaling here because people are so supportive and will be there for you on a "Day Fit Rating" of 2 :)

Good job resisting the cake! Once you have it in your mind that you aren't going to eat whatever cake/candy/donuts/cookies people bring to work, it's no longer a battle. It's out of your mind and you don't even feel tempted.

Have a great day! :tucool:

I don't know if you've ever been taught how to properly handstand before, so I thought I'd write you and the forum a guide: :tu:

Alright, new goals!

Good luck. I like the rating system...you might start a whole "thing" going on...

The haircut looks classy. To measure your agility, I would time yourself running 'lines' either on a tennis court or a basketball court. Pick lines that will force you to completely reverse direction several times in each 'set'. Establish a base time for some lines that will take about 30 seconds(don't make it too long because then it's more about endurance) and then test yourself after a few months. You should test yourself laterally too.

Another great activity to boost your agility is rollerblading. Not just simple push yourself forward rollerblading, but learning to crossover and find your balance lines. We do rollerblade slaloming here through lines of cones. I used to have terrible balance but once I got some skills on my blades my agility in other activities skyrocketed.

Hey thanks! That's pretty cool. :)
I like the rating system...you might start a whole "thing" going on...
I starting doing ratings for my level of effort when I was keeping my lifting log during BFL. They were *so* helpful. If the rating was low, I knew it was time to ratchet things up and get in gear. If it was high, I knew where I needed to be so I wouldn't overkill on the training. I liked the ratings so much, I figured they'd be helpful in the journal. I highly recommend them. :)

Ah, very good idea. :jumping: I will do that. I don't have access to a tennis or basketball court, but I could use the cement block lines on the sidewalk at work. (When no one is actually there but me of course.)

Another great activity to boost your agility is rollerblading.
I hadn't thought about rollerblading. I used to do that when I was a kid. I was terrible, but what the hell--it was fun. Maybe I'll have to pick up a pair of rollerblades. Maybe even cones. The only problem I have is that I live at the top of a hill. Steep grades in every direction. But I could do cones in the driveway. Or walk down the hill to the flat street below and put the blades on there. Hmmmm.

Thanks for the thoughts and encouragement, all! :jumping:

I want to do something like a "Day Fit Rating" on my journal. Can you explain what you would have to do to give yourself a 1, 2, 3, etc.?

To get a "1", I would have to not workout at all and eat like I used to (pure badness). To get a "2" it would be the same except there would be some good eating or a tiny bit of working out. Etc.

To get a 10, I would have to eat perfectly and have an absolutely fantastic workout that exhausted me.

I was going to start farther into the Cool Running Couch to 5k program, but decided to start at the beginning. I really want to build a good, slow foundation into running.

-incredibly clean, lots of green tea

Day Fit Rating: 8

Getting a little addicted to the cardio. Hmmm. . . wonder if it's okay to do cardio everyday. . . .?

I don't do cardio 7 days a week (not sure if that's what you meant by every day) but I do cardio every time I'm in the gym. Thinking of giving up lower body weight training as the running and cycling seem to work those muscles more than the weights. Will still do upper body though.

Did try on a bunch of formal clothes to wear to friend's wedding this weekend. Yay! I fit into all my old clothes now! They're awesome.

Bah, not using the standard format for the last two days. They've sucked. We forgot that we had to go to a wedding this weekend.

Basically we didn't really have any clean food options.

Friday night we had the rehearsal dinner. Available at the dinner: BBQ, white hamburger buns, mashed potatoes mixed with lots of cheese, cookies, and brownies. Tasted good, but was not healthy.

At the wedding tonight there was some fruit available, but since we'd been at the church for the entire day without food (my husband was one of the groomsmen), we needed a little more than that. Available aside from fruit: cake, cheese, crackers, meatballs with cheese, tortilla chips, and Mexican seven layer dip. Again, very nice tasting but not healthy.

Actually looking forward to eating particularly strictly for the next while. My stomach is not in good shape. Eating fatty and starchy foods makes my husband and I both feel sick now. We actually felt hungover this morning, and we don't even drink alcohol.

I also discovered this weekend that I really don't like cokes anymore. They're way too sugary and make my mouth feel disgusting.

The wedding was good. Two very nice people that we were glad to see tie the knot. :)

I don't think the best man knew exactly what a toast was supposed to be like though. He seemed to think it was supposed to be an all out roast of the groom. Oh well, perhaps was inappropriate but was definitely hysterical. He even started with some screaming of a few words of German because my husband had told him (as a joke) that his toast should just be a long shouting tirade completely in German. It was funny and would be impossible to describe. . . heh heh heh thinking about it is making me laugh now.

Fun had by all.

/found out I fit into my formalwear/cocktail dresses again and got to wear a dress that I wore to my highschool graduation six years ago :tu:

75% of the weddings I've been at have been exactly this. I was relieved that mine was not.

Activity Today:
-Week 2, Workout 1 of the Cool Running Couch to 5k program again

Eating Today:
-ate clean, ate vegetarian today-was easy even though there were plenty of temptations around (I'll be eating fish at dinner tomorrow though. I'm not sure that I plan to give up fish. I almost think it's more important to give up dairy than it is fish. I'll think about it.)

Man, I am *really* enjoying this running thing. Running was the suck at first, but now I love it. My dad is pretty excited that I'm getting into running now. He said he'd come run any race with me that I entered. Maybe I'll do a 5k in a couple months with him. :)

Yea, it is that 'starting out' part of running that really, really, really sucks, huh?

Glad you stuck with it! Now you're a Runner For Life!

Don't overdo it, though. In 8 months I went from not being able to run a quarter mile to 8 miles in just under an hour. I developed a stress fracture in my left tibia, from overuse, that prevented me from running for about 7 months. So just be careful!

Yeah, the running rules. :jumping: I will definitely be careful though.

Yesterday I did Week 2, Workout 2 of the running program I've been doing, but today it looks like I'm coming down with something. Possibly the flu. Is the suck. Awful body aches.

I have a lot going on at work, so I still have to go in tomorrow. Hopefully I can wrap things up early. :)

Bah, this sucks. I have been sick all week and getting sicker.

Really screwing up my running. I feel like I'm going to have to start all over. Grrrr. (But I'm not starting over with the program, just starting where I left off.)

My throat is killing me, I'm exhausted, I'm coughing, and I'm getting some zits because that always happens when I'm sick. Again:

Plus, I was so busy at work this week that I didn't have time to just stay home in bed. Every day I would tell myself that I would leave early, and every day I'd end up staying 'til 5:00.

I'm leaving for a business trip on Wednesday, and the hotel where I'm staying has a *sweet* gym in it, so hopefully I'll be better by then. I can't wait to check it out.

Sick or not, I'm buying a bathing suit tomorrow in case I have a chance to use the hotel pool.
