Hello everyone, I decided to have a nice walk in my neighbourhood and explore aimlessly. but then um I stumbled along this property which I THINK might have been private cuz there was a security car patrolling where I was so I decided to go for a nice brisk run. I've been running 5k a day at 5mph for abour 1 and a half months now. And when I was running , It felt like i wasnt even going my fastest, I tired out in 4 mintues!!!! So then I tried to pace my self like my regular speed on the treadmill but got tired like 300 m :( . Whats up with that, I noticed its 1am now and I left at around 11, maybe cuz I was walking for an hour and a half or so? Because I had an empty stomach or had no water today, although I had like 4 protein shakes.

However i do realize that running is very different when you do it outside because it requires more muscles because you basically "glide" when your on treadmill, I expected my legs to get tired but I was gasping for air and my lungs felt worn out as well. I noticed I breath differently when I run. In doors its practically slow controlled breaths, but out side its fast and deep. maybe I need to start running one full hour or so a day which was and still is my goal.

The mechanics of running on the ground and on a treadmill are just different enough that there is not a direct transfer. The first time I ever got on a treadmill was when I was a cometitive distance runner. I set it at an easy pace and couldn't handle but a few miles. By my 4th or 5th time on the treadmill I was as capable on it as on the ground. Running on a flat treadmill is easier for most people than running on the ground. Set your treadmill incline to 1 or 2, and the mechanics and muscles used will be closer to that of outdoor running.

I can't believe it though, I can run 30-40 minutes on the treadmill so easily. I usually adjust my incline from 0-3 every 10 minutes but I guess I'll try rolling hills. It could also be the fact that I havent ran outside for close to a year now, and in cold weather its very hard for me to breath for some reason.

You'll get used to it. I am at the point where I can go for 60+ minutes on the treadmill no problem. When it started getting nice I started running outside and my first couple times, I was struggling after 30 mins. Now after 2 months of that, I can also run outside for 60+ mins. It's all about getting your body used to it.

Another issue may be that you where running faster than you thought. Were you using a heart rate monitor to gauge your exertion level? If not, you might not be in-tune enough with your body to yet to know if you are pushing too hard.
