I'm a fairly active 15 year old male. I'm 5'3 and weigh 133 pounds. I do some sort of exercise 6 times a week (3 days of 3 hours of martial arts, which is fairly intense, and 3 days of 30 minutes of stationary biking at a high resistance).
Today I ate more calories than I normally do (and they were from worse sources). Here's what I ate:
Breakfast:
2 eggo waffles + 1 tbsp of peanut butter
a couple handfuls of kashi "heart to heart" (400 calories total?)
11 am: a 4 ounce pasta salad (200 calories?)
1 pm: 2 slices of pepperoni pizza (400 calories?) and 1 coke (140 calories)
4 pm: 1 bologna sandwich (whole wheat bread) -- about 200 calories I think
7 pm: 1 lean beaf hamburger, 1 cup of brown rice, and one cup of mixed vegetables. I'm guessing that's about 400 calories
10 pm: a 5 oz. can of tun (170 calories)
By those estimates, I ate about 1900 calories. And I'm still feeling hungry late at night even after the tuna. I usually feel pretty hungry at night.
My normal day probably goes like this:
7 am: 2 eggo waffles + 1 tbsp of peanut butter, 1 banana
11 am: 1 cup of brown rice, one cup of mixed veggies, one chicken patty (worst thing I eat all day, but I can't do much about it)
3 am: bologna sandwich with whole wheat bread, maybe an apple
7 am: lean beef hamburger/salmon, 1 cup of brown rice, mixed veggies
10 am: a 5 oz can of tuna or maybe a cucumber
I also take a daily multivitamin.
Is this a healthy diet for a growing teen? Is it enough? If it is enough, why the heck am I always hungry at night no matter what I eat and I can't get rid of it unless I eat some carbs?
