I was curiuos if there was a pill or gel cap or powder or anything that is better than the others or that stands out because of what it includes. Right now i am just using whey protein, but i have been reading up on L-Glutamine and now CLA.. Any thoughts on those two also? If i were to take my whey, CLA and Glutamine would that help me build muscle and lose weight more efficiently?

Arguably.

I don't much believe in the power of Glutamine for muscle-building directly, though I do believe it may have general immune system benefits.

CLA is just as argued over, and very very expensive. Personally I like the stuff but I can't afford it more than every once in awhile.

Totally agree, though I do notice a small difference in recovery time when I take the glutamine. I have not taken CLA but I know people who have and say that the benefits are not that spectacular, you have to take it a while before you start to see it's effects, and like IronPhoenix said, it can get pricey. Stick with your protein and multi vitamin.

Only supplement I feel is worth ANYTHING is Creatine. I love this stuff, it makes my chest and back grow 2 inches and biceps almost 1/2" every time I load. I love it!! It also makes my quads grow close to 2" (making them 29" monsters)

I have been taking L-Glutamine for the past month or so and for some reason I haven't noticed hardly any difference in recovery. I'm not sure if I will buy another tub once I run out. I can say that creatine definetly worked for me.

haven't really noticed any changes either with the L-Glutamine, i take a 500mg tablet of it every morning and night. But i hear it prevents, or rather minimizes muscle breakdonw so i'm gonna keep taking it as this is something i wouldnt be able to naturally detect so it could actually be working.

I take Glutamine after every workout (5 g in powder form - yes, 5.0 grams). It has definitely helped me in my recovery. When I work first began working out, I didn't take any Glutamine and I was extremely sore. I took the Glutamine after my next scheduled workout and I was barely sore. I decided to test it, so I skipped the Glutamine again and I was extremely sore again. I repeated this for a second week just to be sure and the results were the same. Since then, I've taken glutaime after every workout. It works for me so I use it.

Creatine also works but I didn't like the water retention.

I also take Glucosamine and my knees are very pleased with this decision.

Hmm, this must vary by the individual. I put 5g Glutamine in my morning/pre-workout and pre-bedtime shakes and there is 3g in my post-workout shake, and I still occasionally get sore, but perhaps not as sore as in the past.

This is how I view it. What works for one may not work for another or it may work even better. One will never know unless one tries.
