View Full Version : Chicken (Hot) wings
Jbroad572 Thu, May 20th, 2004, 10:21 PM I ate hot wings tonight without any seasonings and all thinking I was cutting out some bad nutrition. I mean they were just plain, so they were not hot wings, but the small size wings. After I ate it dawned on me that I saw them frying them and then it hit me and I looked at the skin. I said Oh Great! Well, I've been looking all over the net for some kind of nutritional information on these wings or something similar. I wasn't sure if I should just calculate the weight and estimate the calories, proteins, etc on fitday as being fried or what. Does anyone know anything about the nutritional value of these?

--D-- Thu, May 20th, 2004, 10:33 PM I'm pretty sure buffalo sauce is low calories. I have some tyson hot wings and it says 15 grams of fat and 20 grams of protein per serving.
Jbroad572 Thu, May 20th, 2004, 10:54 PM What about the calories? I didn't have any sauce on them, they were dry.
Specialbear Thu, May 20th, 2004, 11:28 PM hmmm, dont be too worried. Although it is probably dark meat, it is a good protein source.
Sock Thu, May 20th, 2004, 11:45 PM My Dietpower listing:
Chicken wing, fried with skin, average: 100cal 6g Fat 1g sFat 0g Carb 8g Prot
54% of calories from fat. :p
Krakerjak Fri, May 21st, 2004, 12:16 AM I often have hot wings on my diet.
I make my own hot sauce and barbeque or broil the wings.
Very good, and they don't seem to be all that bad for the diet.
Though I only have them occasionally.
This is what I go with...
100g of wings (really depends on size/weight of wings to give an amount)
210 cals
12g fat
3g sat fat
4g carbs
1g dietary fiber
22g protein
chasrein Fri, May 21st, 2004, 12:41 AM Yes, Chicken is good for you. But no, deep fired Buffalo Style chicken wings are not. They are mostly skin and grease. I do alow them occasionlly on my diet but they count big. These and a couple of beers sends me way over.
One dozen Buffalo Style Chicken wings sections:
Protein: 30 g
Fat: 54g
Carbs: 104g
Ref Weight: 454 g
Calories: 1002
This is for average size wings.

That's like eating a triple bacon cheeseburger and passing on the ketchup...
benca1 Fri, May 21st, 2004, 12:49 PM Generally wings are nasty little things: fried skin, dressing, and that hot sauce is 90 percent butter. Most people aren't aware that the sause is mostly butter, and it should be too - fat intensifies heat.
You can buy a package of wings, grill them on high heat, serve them with nonfat greek yogurt and tabasco; no fat and high protein. Tasty as sin.
