Hello -
So glad to find this forum! I have so much to learn.
I'm 57yrs young.
I have pretty bad back and neck pain.
Just finished a 4 week round of PT.
I promise not to push myself too hard at first....
but wondering if anyone else has had improvement with spinal pain from building muscle?
Please say yes! Need encouragement! :o:bow:
(I have MRIs and OK from docs to keep working out).
I want to prove to my family that I'm not washed up already.
I refuse to be old!
I took before pics. Looking forward to the afters.

Welcome! Stumbled across this site recently myself, and this forum is a great resource. You are in the right place :)

About back pains, I can tell of my own experiences - I had a lot of problems with my back in the last couple of years. Constanly waking up in the mornings with lower back ache. The pains would sometimes go away later in the day, but I was feeling sore and stiff a lot of the time. My doctor at the time (not any more) said it would go away if i gave it time, but it never did..

After i started lifting weights in the summer and building some supportive muscle, these problems are more or less gone for me, so thats a big yes from me :tu:

I have a pretty similar experience to this. I damaged my lower back while doing some grade 4 white water kayaking (running waterfalls to be exact) and was in a lot of pain most mornings, sometimes to the point I couldn't move for about an hour. My doctor also said that it would go away and to just take pain killers, well that didn't work so I did some research, and finally after going to see a uni doctor and explaining what had happened, they said I should try going to the gym and see if it helps.

I can honestly say, I barely notice any pain now after just 4 weeks! There is a slight twinge there in the morning for about 5min, and if I twist sharply, but I'm pretty sure in time this will go away too after what's already happened in time.

I can also give a big yes to it helps :tucool:

google up 'core strength exercises'. I recal a lot of people with back pain were reporting that back pain was gone after they started doing them.

I'm a little younger then you, 25, but also have (had) some minor back problems. I can also confirm doing the so called "core strength exercises" fixed the problems. I can still feel a little of that old pain when leaning forward for a longer time, but now I also feel muscles, which yeah, I would describe as feeling my core strenght. I just get back into the upright position and don't feel a thing. :bb:
