I lift weights three times a week, with a day of rest inbetween just like I have read to do. The problem I face is that my muscles are still sore after my day of rest. I know that I could push through it and workout like scheduled, but I just wanted to make sure that wouldn't be counterproductive and/or dangerous. Please let me know what you think.

Do you do the same workout every day? Or do you split muscle groups?
Because if you work biceps / back on monday, then you would be able to work legs or something on the wed, then the rest on fri.
Or, work upper body on the mon, then lower on wed, then upper on fri, and this should mean your muscles have recovered in time I think. Rest is of key importance I am led to believe.
I was just about to ask about something to do with muscle ache/soreness too... I haven't worked my biceps in about 2 weeks thinking about it, but today my biceps have been really sore, I know I have probably used them a bit on other workouts, but can't see why they'd be this sore. Anyone know why this could be? (sorry for hijacking your thread)

No worries, my mommy taught me how to share. But just to answer your question to me incase it may help get an answer, I'm following a workout I found online and it works the full body everyday. I don't split between upper and lower body.

I would try finding a split routine if your muscles are still aching the next workout.

Skins - I'm just a novice also so take my comments with a grain of salt but... are you perhaps over training? How long do you spend in the gym on your weight workouts and what is your set/rep routine? You might be overtraining by spending too much time on a particular muscle group or too much time in general on a single workout. It seems to me the general rule of thumb is "no more than an hour" per workout.
I could be wrong... other comments?

My suggestions:
1. Are your drinking enough water?
2. What do you do for post work-out nutrition?
3. Do you take any fish oil or glucosomine/chondroitin supplements?
4. Are you taking in enough protein in your diet?
You might also try two days rest between full body work-outs.

How long have you been training? It is not unusual to ache a lot after the first day, or the first few times, but it gets better.
