View Full Version : Cereal
metroba Wed, May 19th, 2004, 11:04 PM I asked awhile ago about eating Fruity Pebbles and according to you guys that's a no-no. Most of you suggested eating Kashi cereal which I cannot stand!! The difference was Kashi has morer nutrients and whatnot. So since I can't stand Kashi, what about eating just other wholefood cereals? What other cereals can you guys suggest?
Danny Noonan Wed, May 19th, 2004, 11:20 PM Oatmeal.

I don’t know which Kashi cereal you tried, but Kashi’s GoLean Crunch is pretty good. Similar to Sugar Smacks.
HunkOLove Wed, May 19th, 2004, 11:29 PM Which Kashi did you try?
Get Kashi Go Lean Crunch if you haven't tried it. It really tastes good and is pretty darn sweet with honey and stuff. Lot of protein and fiber.
Looks like Grapenuts but is different in that it actually tastes really good.
D.A.C. Wed, May 19th, 2004, 11:33 PM Oatmeal, with milk :D seriously.
If you must have something in a box though, anything that's not almost pure sugar (unless the sugar is from fruit) will work.
When it comes to cereal I usually eat one of the following, but keep in mind I am Canadian and I am unable to buy any of the fortified cereals avalible in the States, like Total, or Product 19:
All-Bran, Raisin Bran, Cheerio's (regular, or multi-grain), Wheetabix, or Vector (rarely do I have this though). If I could, I'd probably choose Product 19 over the others.
And never, ever, EVER buy Reece Peanut Butter Puffs! Crack in a box...
My usual breakfast though is 3oz Oatmeal, 3oz All-Bran, with 1/2 a cup 1% milk, and a tablespoon of Sugar Twin Brown Sugar.
I could eat oatmeal at every meal...  :spaz: :eat:

Thats your whole breakfast? Do you have anything else with it ( like egg whites)?
ABguy Thu, May 20th, 2004, 12:01 AM I alternate Oatmeal w/ Stevia and no cal maple syrup ....and
SPecial K w/ dried strawberries....little bit of sugar in the Special K, but nothing like the Pebbles.
If you're gonna cheat....go all out.....Lucky Charms and a donut :D
Fourteener Thu, May 20th, 2004, 12:12 AM Kashi "Good Friends" is my cereal every morning. I add skim milk. I love the cereal, but can't stand the pictures on the box... (They also have a "good Friends" with raisins"
If I double up on cereal in the morning, I usually add 1 cup of Cascadian Farm's "Wheat Crunch". (It does have some organic rice as well as organic whole wheat.... for whatever that is worth)

Pretty much, yes.
I might lose the milk and use water with a tablespoon of peanut butter added, or have a banana with it as well.
TheLemonSong Thu, May 20th, 2004, 02:10 AM They have Good Friends w/ Raisins?!?! Thats awesome...I love good friends, but the best part is the granola and there isn't enough of it...
mzmtg Thu, May 20th, 2004, 09:42 AM I have either oatmeal or Whole Grain Total for brehfas.
Ken In Canada Thu, May 20th, 2004, 10:54 AM I don’t know which Kashi cereal you tried, but Kashi’s GoLean Crunch is pretty good. Similar to Sugar Smacks.
I bought some of this the other day. I've been so used to oatmeal w/bran & flax that this was a sugar shock to me. I think it's the brown rice syrup.
It's a VERY tasty cereal, and actually too sweet for me. I'm going back to the GOOD FRIENDS. It's a bit bland, but I enjoy that whole 'natural' taste.

txitalian Thu, May 20th, 2004, 01:05 PM I like to eat Kashi GoLean and either sprinkle some cinnamon on it or put a little bit of cozy cottage sugar free syrup. Good stuff. :eat:

chasrein Thu, May 20th, 2004, 01:36 PM I like Nature's Path "Optimum" Power Breakfast. One cup with skim milk has:
Calories: 230
Good Carbs: 40g
Fat: 2.5
Protein: 16g
Sodium 110mg
I eat it with fresh strawberries.
It's pretty expensive at the regular price ($3.79 a 14 oz. box). My local supermarket often has it at 2 for $4.00. I stock up. Sometimes Sam's Club has it in bigger boxes for much less. Natures's Path also make one called "Zen" Cranberry Ginger that is absolutly delicious.
All the Natrue's Path's Cereals are USDA Organic if that means anything to you. No Pesticides, Additives or Preservatives.

Sure thing. Here it is:
It is actually Good Friends "Cinna-Raisin Crunch". Never had it but it is at my local, mountain-town supermarket.

Kashi Go Lean Crunch.... mmmm
v0id Fri, May 21st, 2004, 10:25 PM I eat a lot of raisin bran... is that good or bad? I try to take in a lot of milk throughout the day so that helps with that also...
stepsinsc Sat, May 22nd, 2004, 02:04 PM Cheerios, Fiber One...
JJHere Sat, May 22nd, 2004, 03:38 PM I like the regular Kashi Go Lean. Plus it has 13g of protein per serving. (as opposed to the Go Lean crunch which is only 9g per serving) The Go Lean Crunch sits heavy on my stomach like granola. Just my .02
Gregg S Mon, May 24th, 2004, 03:03 AM Lately I've been mixing raw oats, golean crunch and golean heart2heart (looks like cheerios)...good stuff!!
