View Full Version : what to flavor tuna pasta with
txitalian Wed, May 19th, 2004, 07:48 PM I have been experimenting with combining whole wheat rotini, tuna and brocolli. It tastes okay, but I feel it is missing something. A seasoning perhaps. I have just been adding pepper to it. Any suggestions?

I make a delicious (IMO) tuna napolitana, with a strong tomato flavour. Only thing is, to save time I use a premade seasoning pack (made by a company called schwartz) to add flavour, and I'm not too sure what seasonings are in this.
Other than that, it's just pasta, tuna, a little milk and tomato puree.

Funny, I was thinking aobut the same thing. I was going to mix mine with some ricotta (or fat free cream cheese) and some garlic, a bit of thyme or oregano. Maybe even a bit of spinach.
imsuxok? Thu, May 20th, 2004, 01:44 PM I think sauteed red peppers would be nice, if you're not making a sauce. Cut them in pieces roughly the size of the rotini and sautee until tender.

Now it reminds me more of a roast beef sandwich.

Personally, pasta is evil to me. I can't say no to just 4 OZ.
I would add:
- capers
- red pepper
- 1 or 2 tsp olive oil
- lots of lemon juice
- I would start with the oil and some garlic, then add the tuna. Add red pepper. Right before taking it off of the heat, add several spoon fulls of capers. Buy capers at Costco, dirt cheap and they last forever.
