Hi Guys

Currently trying to cut hard for summer - if you look at my journal i have some current pics up - Im not overweight but i have these damn moobs that i really want to get rid of - they totally kill my confidence!

I have spent a year putting on muscle and and generally staying fit between uni but ive seriously neglected on my cut and im trying to make up for it.

What would be the best method of shedding pure fat in the shortest amount of time (going on a beach vacation on the 20th of nov and want to look good for then)

Im willing to commit the time and effort to do it - would it best to just do pure cardio 7 x a week and eat clean?

Thanks!
J

(also any estimates at my BF? and how much i should be trying to lose?)

First of all, congrats on adding some nice muscle!

Without knowing too much about your routine, I would suggest three full body sessions per week, and another three days of HIIT. Base your lifting routine around big, compound exercises. If you were to lift Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you could do the same workout except vary your reps per day. If possible, make sure to include some type of squat and deadlift variations.

Monday: 4 sets of 5 reps
Wednesday: 2 sets of 15 reps
Friday: 3 sets of 8-10 reps

or.... You could always substitute a bodyweight circuit day for the middle session.

Eat all of your starchy carbs around your workouts/HIIT, and get plenty of protein/green vegetables. You could also tack on 15-20 minutes of treadmill walking after your lifting, but it's probably not necessary. I would still spend one of your weekend days completely resting (but eating clean).

If you aren't doing any cardio right now and your weight is pretty constant, I'd add 3 days of cardio. If you aren't dropping weight, start taking off 200cals every two weeks. This won't be very quick, but it's the best way to retain the muscle you've earned.

If you want a wham-bam thankyou ma'am, many have had success with the v-diet protocol (including myself).

I wouldn't worry about altering your lifting routine, cutting weight is almost entirely up to diet.

I agree with the others - dont go jogging every day

You have very little time to loose fat and you probably wont make it, but in the long run you would benefit more from getting some extra muscles. Keeping the muscles strong and pumped, you will look good

keep the gym 3xweek + and 2-3x week cardio and cut slightly calories (by 300 kcal?).
