What principles should be followed for optimal HIIT cardio recovery while bulking? I'm sure there are different schools of thought, but I'd like to hear them. (I'm not sure if what I'm doing is high-enough intensity, but it sure feels like it: level 18 (max 20) interval training on a stepmill for 30 minutes, with 2-minute intervals.)

I am well into my bulking phase (up 13 pounds, 20 more to go) with alternating weightlifting and cardio days (MWF and TThSa), always in the morning.

Right now I have a protein shake and oatmeal pre-workout and Surge! right after, followed by a high-calorie breakfast an hour later (140/28/27 C/P/F), and this is the same no matter the day. So should post-cardio be different than post-lifting?

def. more carbs than protein if ur doing true HIIT cardio. U wanna have full stores for when u lift.

Also, how is ur muscle/fat ratio looking as u gain?

As I said, I use Surge (http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/biot/surge.html) after my workouts, which is 49g carbs and 25g protein.

After my first 12 weeks with my trainer, I put on 13 lbs, only 2 of which was fat based on the bf% tests, which stayed at just under 13%.
