Starting a 3-day split bulk that should last til march. I want to keep fat gains small and based on the article below, thought that HIIT might also help with gains.

My question is whether or not I should target muscle groups in HIIT that were exercised the day before. I can't pin down the source but I know i've read once or twice that, while counter intuitive, it's best to do HIIT with muscle groups that were exercised recently.

In addition, the article linked above mentions this

However, the effects of IGF-I on muscle seem to be "local", meaning it has to be produced by, or introduced into the muscle [4]. And because contracting muscle has an insulting-like action (you probably call it the "pump"), all the extra movement from the cardio will be drawing more IGF-I in to cells. So it would be wise to find some type of cardio that uses a lot of different muscle groups.

So should I do Hiit the rowing machine the day after my Biceps/Back routine? or go sprint Tabatas the day after my legs workout?

Alternatively should I focus on maximizing recovery and try and place similar workouts as far apart as possible?

All I know is trying to do HIIT the day after a major leg workout is extremely difficult for me. You may have to use an elyptical machine instead that incorporates the arms after a leg day. On days after doing upper body workouts, try a leg only machine such as treadmill or stairclimber.
