anyone recommend these? or are they a waste of money and time? i own a set, but have never really used them, my sister swears by them, but i dont really see them helping me obtain my goals.....however she says they are just like weights......i dont agree, am i wrong?

Well, I don't know exactly if they are better or worse than weights in general but I know they are helpful if you can't go to a gym and still want to target some specific muscles, e.g. adductors/abductors (innerthights and side of butt). At home, w/o a specific machine, those are hard to stimulate with some added resistance.
I'd say whatever makes you workout/move is good. I use them, as well as weights, balance ball and all sorts of gadget...
One disadvantage is that it becomes eventually fairly easy with the band. You need to purchase a "harder" one... I don't know how those really relate to "weights" in terms of applied resistance...
Sorry I don't have actual numbers to make a realistic comparison.

I wonder (worry) that you're losing the benefit of weight-bearing exercise with bands. Weight-bearing exercises help stave off osteoporosis (sp, sorry) which is of special concern to women.
