We were so close to 300! I almost went out and ran 4 extra miles just so we could reach our goal. Anybody heard from Tempest? He was doing really well, then we stopped hearing from him. Hopefully everything is alright. 12 + 8 = 20 RemmoSi Mon, May 4th, 2009, 01:09 PM 12 + 8 = 20 20 + 2.5 = 22.5 My goal this month is shorter runs more often. I couldn't find time to do 6 or 8 miles all at once and, as a result, I didn't run as much as I could have. 30 minutes 4 or 5 times a week is more doable than 90 at any one time. That's a great goal, Remmo. It would have been easy to simply say that you just don't have time to run. Instead, you found an alternative way to make it work, and sometimes that makes all the difference. Keep it up! :tu: 22.5 + 13.1 = 35.6 RemmoSi Tue, May 5th, 2009, 09:19 AM That's a great goal, Remmo. It would have been easy to simply say that you just don't have time to run. I'm doing a 5k in July with my sister-in-law, but it's just for fun and I don't need the high-milage runs to make that distance. I've also been challenged to a 1600m race by my other sister-in-law (who is in high school track). She just broke 5:30 for a mile, so I would need less distance and a little more speed. 35.6 + 2.5 = 38.1 Paddy Tue, May 5th, 2009, 09:41 PM Thanks Scott. It's amazing how much under 2 miles can wipe you out when the intensity is picked up. ScottTX Fri, May 8th, 2009, 02:42 AM scottx, you did a 13 miler?...that's a half marathon, congratulations. Yep, I sure did. Thanks! The first half marathon I ever ran was a little over 2 weeks ago and I did it with two primary intentions: a) to see if I could do it, and b) to set a time for the rest of my runs to be judged against. I beat that time by 20 minutes on Monday. As I progress, I intend on raising the bar incrementally, making every 13'er better and faster than the last. Eventually, the goal is to run the San Antonio Rock n' Roll Marathon in November. 53.1 + 1.9 = 55 I was doing 800m repeats with a little jog and rest in between. It's amazing how much under 2 miles can wipe you out when the intensity is picked up. Tell me about it. I did speed work today as well and my pace for the first mile made the rest of my intervals feel like I was pulling a sled uphill. 90 degree heat and 78% humidity probably didn't help my cause either. My legs felt fine, but my lungs were toast. I hate speed work, but I love the feeling when I'm done. 55 + 5.5 = 60.5 RemmoSi Fri, May 8th, 2009, 11:27 AM Tell me about it. I also ran a 5k course (not race, but the course the local race uses) with my two sisters-in-law at a 7:40min/mi pace. One of them is coming off a half marathon at a sub 8min/mi pace and the other just placed 4th in the state track meet in the mile, so I was pushed a little.
