View Full Version : Dilemma - what would YOU do (supplement choices)

So I have a decision to make, and was curious as to what YOU would do if you were in the same situation. I've been using At Large's product line of NITREAN for about 4 months now. Couldn't be happier with the quality and it tastes great! :tu: I use Nitrean not only for PWO shakes, but also in make homemade protein bars and protein pancakes. I use the bars pre-workout, and the pancakes as an occasional treat and protein boost. I've also used their fat loss stack and am happy with the results.

I'm nearing the end of my weight loss journey (you can see my intro in the beginner's forum), and would like to continue using a quality protein powder in my new lifestyle.

Here's the dilemma: I work for the company that owns EAS and just recently found out that I can get the Myoplex product line at about 1/3 retail price. I went ahead and ordered some of the Myoplex regular ready to drink stuff just to try it out, along with some of the Myoplex Lite protein bars. The bars taste great, the shake wasn't bad either. The ingredients list doesn't seem TOO terrible with regard to fillers and such. But hell, I can get a case (3 boxes per case, 12 bars per box) of Myoplex Lite protein bars for $18-$19 depending on the flavor.

What would YOU do? I guess in a nutshell what I'm asking is; is the Myoplex brand good enough for the price I would be paying?

Thanks for any input/opinions,

~Jose

Myoplex really isn't comparable to the protein blend (or quality) in Nitrean. You won't find an aweful lot of people here using it, which may say something about it's quality as well.

As a protein boost or for PWO it will probably be fine. I found the pre-made stuff pretty nasty (and too many carbs), but I like my shakes thicker anyway. As long as you account for the extra sugar and fat, you'll likely be successful with it.

I guess it all boils down to the macronutrients of each. If they are exactly the same i'd go with the cheaper option.

You may find that the cheaper brand offers less, protein carbs or fats, per 100g. Probably less protein.

Is Myoplex good for the price you are paying? Yes.

I've used the EAS protein powder from Sam's club years ago. While it didn't taste as good as the others. It didn't hinder gains in the gym.

Personal opinion is protein powders are all the same(besides the types). I've gone through more than I can remember and nothing changed except for the flavor/texture.

Given the price increase in whey the past year or so, paying 1/3 the price would certainly seem appealing. I say go for it. If you want to get some qualities associated with a blend, mix your myoplex with milk and you'll have both whey and casein.

Just to clarify, he is paying 1/3 of Myoplex's retail price.

Now, Nitrean is not really the product of ours to compare. Opticen is MUCH more like Myoplex and it is pretty reasonably priced compared to other MRP/PWO products on the market.

To answer the initial question, if you can get the 20 servings of Myoplex for $20 or so I would say that it is worth the savings. Beyond that, I would go with AtLarge.

Ah...gotcha. I've never used Myoplex and I was (erroneously) thinking it was a whey-only product.

I agree that you definitely can't compare Myoplex and Nitrean. They both serve a very different purpose. Personally, I've used both of these products in the past and I didn't like either one of them. I will say though that if I had to choose between EAS products and AtLarge products, I would go with the Atlarge products.

I know if I were in your shoes the price factor would trump any nutritional variation between the two products...
