Is it a good idea to stick to eating the same foods over and over to hit the right macros?

Please see: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pmyPXfH5y9ltyYpmEz0V-NQ

I know the numbers are about right but should I be incorporating more variety? Or can I treat my body as a machine and feed it the same nutrients time and time again?

Cheers :eat:

some people prefer the structure and routine of eating the same things every day, and some don't. without a little variety though, you do run the risk of being deficient in certain vitamins and minerals over time.

personally, i like knowing exactly what i'm going to eat all week, and my diet is similar to yours. i give myself a little room for variety though by mixing up my meats and green veggie choices and how i cook them. only my breakfast and pre-bedtime meals are the same every single day.

your diet looks pretty solid, but if it were me, i'd replace one of your protein shakes with another real food meal (salmon, tuna, or another oily fish) and throw a good multivitamin in there.

good luck

Edit: Never mind. I wasn't reading the right page.

Wow, that's a lot of olive oil.

I don't believe that there really are any "right" macronutrients, so I don't really like eating like that, especially if you're considering the "correct" macronutrients from the stanpoint of a daily average. I couldn't tell how those foods were broken down into your meals, but I think it's more important to consider where in relation to your daily activities you're putting the bulk of your carbohydrates, as it is to consider to absolute number of carbohydrates you're eating in a day.

I also find that I need different number of calories or type of calories on different days of the week, and can control my moods, my fatigue, and my strength better if I slightly adjust them as I go. That might not apply to you as much.
Diet looks fine. If it's working for you, no need to change it.

It looks good to me too, most of us are nutritional pragmatists, so stick with it since it's working.

Thanks

I'm quite comfortable with the diet, just not so sure about changing things around too much.

For example: I've added some tomatoes, spices to make the chicken taste nice, and have a weekly sunday dinner (to keep me sane). I've also bought some eggs to swap out with the cottage cheese now and again.

I guess i'm looking for cheap alternatives to swap out every so often to make a diet not so much of a diet and I guess I believe that a diet should be varied to gain a wider vatiety of nutrients/vitimins.
