Thanks to free weights I've developed calluses on my palms at the bottom of my fingers (seems deadlifts are the main culprit). This wasn't really a problem but yesterday they started to peel quite a lot. What is the best way to deal with them? I don't mind them being there, but I don't want a huge chunk of skin to slough off.

Check out this (http://www.beastskills.com/calluses.htm) article. :) I don't go that in-depth but basically I remove any raised skin after I shower.

I remove whatever will EASILY come off after taking a shower. I don't like to remove too much because I want them there to buffer my hands, especially during pull ups and deadlifts.

How are you gripping the bar? I used to get quite bad callus formation because of where in my hands I held the bar. Check this article (http://worldfitnessnetwork.com/2008/03/avoid-calluses-lifting-weights/) out.
