I'm interested in knowing if any of the JSF members have tried using herbal mood stabilizers like holy basil and sage for anxiety or stress.

Are there any other suggestions, or places to be directed to for more information on it? I know blindly searching the web can really overload anyone and that there are a lot of wonky people with odd theories on the whole topic.

Thanks!

I've used St. John's wort.

It works for my anxiety, but it hasn't seemed to alleviate my stress all that much. So I end up only using a couple of capsules a year, when I'm unusually overwhelmed. Still, it's nice to have them on hand. It works as a tea, as well.

I might give them a shot. I have mild anxiety that is kind of annoying. There are so many herbal supplements out there too, it's hard to really know which ones work.

I can't really help, because I take prescription meds for this stuff, but I find whenever I have terrible anxiety I go do sprints. It takes my mind off of the anxiety and I feel much better after I am done. Just don't focus on your heart beating so fast :blank:

I've used Sam-e and trimethylglycine for mood improvement. However, they tend to increase anxiety....so, I wouldn't take them if that is your problem.

Sam-e is also good for the joints. It is expensive as hell though.
