Someone remind me....why is oatmeal in everyone's breakfast menu ??

It's just high carbs (energy), w/ no fat..is that it ?

I don't have anything against oatmeal, just wondering why it seems to be more popular (or appropriate) than other breakfast choices.

Don't be fooled. There's fat in oatmeal.

I eat barley for breakfast myself, but oatmeal's great. I'll let others tell you why. I'm sure you could do a search on these forums for oatmeal and find the info. It's been asked lots of times.

You'd be hard pressed to find a cleaner complex carbohydrate for breakfast with the nutrition value of oatmeal.

Oatmeal is also one of the most satisfying clean foods. I often have to remind myself to eat my 2nd meal of the day because I'm so filled up by my morning bowl of oatmeal (60g).

I have Kashi cerel for breakfast and oatmeal with protein powder for 2 snacks. Oatmeal=clean carbs (low GI), essential fats, and a good taste.
And, of course, its cheap as it was already said.

My personal opinion with Oatmeal is that I will feel full longer than say eating an 'egg white omlete' or some other breakfast.

Also, like others have said, low GI, cheap, good.
