View Full Version : Sore back?
Azure Wed, March 11th, 2009, 01:59 PM How should I know if my lower back is just sore from doing an extremely taxing deadlift program, versus something being screwed up.
The right side of my lower back is almost constantly 'sore'.....I think. I'm deadlifting 3x per week, and the program I do says to expect soreness. It doesn't 'hurt'.....not when I lift, nothing.....just when I stand up, I definitely feel something on the right side of my lower back.
I have at least 4 more weeks left on my program, assuming I'll be able to do the 9 weeks as it calls for, and its working great for me.
I'll try to get a video of my lift too. If I can find a camcorder.
needachange Wed, March 11th, 2009, 03:12 PM My mom has a bad back and she has pain constantly wether sitting, laying or standing. I think if it's only sore when you stand up it's probably just muscle soreness.
My leg "soreness" never really seems to go away. As soon as I stand up or walk down stairs I'm quickly reminded of the squats and deads I did ealier in the week
gray Wed, March 11th, 2009, 05:20 PM If it's not feeling normal (as in not sore) at any point between workouts I'd give it a couple days at least without taxing it again. If even just to see if the pain goes away. Right now we can't tell if it's DOMS (as you think) or something else you should worry about.
Azure Wed, March 11th, 2009, 08:21 PM Could it be that I'm hitting a weaker spot, and this is the price I pay?
It doesn't hurt....and I only feel it when standing up. I don't feel a thing when I deadlift or squat.

I want to be stubborn though. :moon:
Anyways, still did the DLs yesterday, but I made a slight change. Instead of looking straight ahead, I look up as much as I can now. Plus, I placed more emphasis on leading with my shoulders, and driving them up into the air.
Not a HUGE change, but my back has definitely improved. I'm not even sore anymore.
Azure Thu, March 12th, 2009, 09:06 PM Yeah, I feel better for sure. Not even sore.
Now my sternum is a whole different issue.
gray Fri, March 13th, 2009, 01:17 AM eek, sternum or chest?

I have a fractured sternum....from a fall playing hockey.
But, I have to go get my chest checked out again. I have a feeling there is something wrong with my right pectoral muscle. Hell of it is the pain comes and goes everyday.
