Hey guys.

I'm 20, I weigh 60 kilos (120). I'm slim but I have a bit of a gut. I want to get bigger, however I think it's best if I lose the gut before I start bulking.

I know the rule of weight loss is to work off more than you put on. (obviously)

My question is this : For someone who's slim and generally small, what suggestions would you guys have in terms of losing my gut? I'm worried that because I'm already skinny so after I work to lose weight I'll get even smaller...

Any help would be awesome.

Unless you're 4 feet tall, I'll bet everything I got that what you're calling "a bit of a gut" is simply an untrained body, which is entirely too far away from its genetic strength and muscle limit to make dieting to an intentional calorie deficit make any sense whatsoever.

Don't cut fat. You need to put on tons of muscle, and then cut. If you are 120 pounds, I imagine you'd need to put on some weight. You are referring to what's known around here as "skinny fat". People who have this body type feel that they need to cut down bodyfat in order to see their abs, but in actuality, they will lose whatever muscle they have, and that gut will stay there forever. You need to have some significant muscle underneath for your abs to show. Take a look in the Weight Training and Bulking forum for tips on adding some lean mass.

Good luck with your goals!
