I noticed in some of JS's food logs during cutting he takes Beverly International Lean Out Tabs. I looked up this supplement. Apparently, the main ingredient is L-Carnitine (vitamin Bt). I guess the idea is that it causes your body to focus on getting its energy from fats.

Additionally, I have found some studies that say it really does not work. Does anyone have any experience with this or a similar product. What results have you seen?

I've tried Acetyl L-Carnitane and I can tell you that it's expensive. I'm talking some $30 for a bottle of 60 or 90.

That was how I used it.

do you feel it worked? Was it worth the expense?

I think if you can afford it, I would try it...especially if your diet/workout has been spot on for a while and you've hit a plateau. I recently purchased some from www.vitacost.com. Not that expensive. I bought the one that also has alpha lipoic acid + acetyl-l-carnitine combo.

120 servings (600mg ala + 1gr NAC) = $40

If you take 1-2 servings per day, that works out to 2-4 months supply, $120-240/year if you take it year-round.

You can buy it in bulk for MUCH cheaper. I bought 2.2 pounds of it awhile back for roughly $50. The only downside is that you quickly realize why they cap the stuff. It tastes terrible, but it is way more cost-effective than buying the pills.
