IMO nothing beats a tread...I have a bike, run outdoors, but in the end the treadmill is great. I think its about the best form of cardio but there are down sides like the impact and such on your joints and legs.

But the benefits are many... Not just the number of calories you burn but your heart and lung improvement..You can really set a pace or speed and just keep increasing and building yourself up gruadually...This is the best way and the tread won't let you slow down...So theres no cheating.

If you are doing Hitt then the treadmill is without a doubt the best option IMO...I do hitt once in a while but usually run for 45 minutes...Here lately I have been running for a soild hour but only every other day...I take a day off in between and cut my calories down on that day...Then the next morning I get my hour run in...

IMO hitt is not the best option for a beginner.. You need to get use to the tread and build yourself to start. If you start off doing intensive hitt then you could have some problems...

I would try to start at around 30 mins at a time on the machine..Start at the 5mph range and keep bumping up the speed to suit your system...You can tell when you fall into a good pace...Myself now I start at 6mph and when I am done I am above 8..And usually run 7 miles in 60 minutes..Start out slower man for 30...You can't just start right off with Hitt....Even for short bursts it really taxes your body...

You need to post more info...What is your weight? What ARE your goals? Are just wanting to lose some fat or increase your overall health and cardio? What is you diet and calories like on an average day?

When I do hitt which is not ver often I will do a 5 minute warmup session...Then I will hit 8mph for a couple minutes then 10nph for a minute. Then I will go back to 8 for a minute, then back to 10 for another minute...After alternating several times like this I will then jump from 8mph to 12 for 30 seconds or sometimes up to a minute and then back to 8..I try to never go back under 8 mph. This is pretty intense but Hitt is extremly intense and taxing on you....

A simple rule I do for cutting is eat somewhere around your body weight x10 in calories...Now I enjoy the longer sessions but some prefer Hitt it is over quicker...Personally I feel a long duration is better and not at low intensity..I like long duration medium intensity...Thats around 8 to a 10 minute mile....I have found this most effective...While I also mix in weight training in the evenings on certain days..

But you still haven't posted the other info and what your goals are???
