Well I think I broke through, my body did not want to drop below 190lbs, many days I would get down to 189lbs, and then go right back up to 190lbs-192lbs.

So two days ago I hit 189lbs and was determined to go past that this time, so I hit it real hard on the cardio, bumped up my protien to 50%, droped carbs down to 40%, and fat down to 10%, and did an extra 45 minute cardio session for two days in the evenings, experimented with MAX-OT on my chest and tris yesterday morning, and this morning I woke up really sore, and I weighed in a 187lbs, then I did another HIIT session and crunches.

Maybe I'm through this phase, I have been sticking at 189-190 for about 3 weeks now, I am so ready to move on...

do you know about what BF% you are at? I have hit a plateau and it seems like I will have to do SO much more work to get by it. Makes me sad. :d_frown:

I did the same. I was at 170 and have been at 170 for like 2 weeks now and I weighed myself this morning and I was 168. Its a big motivator for me.

I am at 5'5 and 187lbs and according to mybodycomp.com, I believe I am around 22%-23% body fat, so I may be wrong but I do not think I should be hitting plateaus until I get down into the lower teens... this stage of the game should still be easy, and it has been until this point, but I just got stuck at 190 for some reason. Hopefully I'm past it now..

hehe, i have a similar thing where two weeks ago i broke the 190's to 187.4 but today i'm 189.9, been hovering just under 190 for two whole weeks now :(
but it doesn't matter! Because my photo this morning was the BEST ever, so progress MUST be being made without muscle loss!

Only my $.02 but plateaus come regardless of your body fat. If you've been doing the same program for a while, eating the same food, then you will inevitably hit a plateau. I've hit about 5 different plateaus in the past year and a half while losing 60+ pounds, and I still have 15 more pounds to go!

If you've been doing the same thing for up to 12 weeks or so, I'd look into a serious overhaul to kick things in the butt!

would it be feasible to say that once a person gets to a certain weight (regardless of body composition) that the body will be so much more reluctant to burn fat?

Im just over 6 foot tall, and im worried i may have hit that point at 71 kg (155lb). My body fat is probably in the 15% range (i start cutting 6 and a half months ago from 93kg, 215lb and 32% BF).

would it be feasible to say that once a person gets to a certain weight (regardless of body composition) that the body will be so much more reluctant to burn fat?Absolutely. Your brain's hypothalamus, whose main function is achieving homeostasis, or maintaining the body's status quo, is a big reason why dropping to a sub-normal weight is very difficult to do (naturally, at least).

Right now, your weight is lower (relatively) than your bodyfat %, so you might be stuck. Your body is going to fight you if you continue to try to "cut", b/c your weight is probably around where it should be, though your bf % may not be where you want it. As such, you need to continue to change your body composition -- but not by cutting (see below).

IMHO, you should concentrate on adding lean mass to your frame. 6' and 155 is relatively light, at least for an adult male (which you may or may not be  ), regardless of body composition. I would recommend you focus more on adding muscle and less on losing "weight", as you may begin to find it more and more diffiicult to drop the lbs. This way you can transform your body ("trading" fat for muscle) and potentially stay around the same weight.
