I hope I did the pic's correct, If not I apologize. So I'm 3 months into this and so far feeling pretty good about myself. I missed posting pic's last month so I have added a few more dating from my start date of Feb 3rd up until May 7th. I will start by stating the same thing I did after the first month pic's so please be kind and don't flame me for my choices. When I found this site and began changing my life I wasn't in the best of physical or mental states and I didn't feel very good about what I had become. My first pic's were not the best. I was slightly slouching and my stomach was protruding a bit. Now this wasn't on purpose but I think it should be noted. I'm sure many of the members who have posted pic's feel a lot different now and carry themselves differently than they did when they first started. I feel much more comfortable taking photos and feel good about trying too look the best I can. Yes I did shave my chest after the first pic's and yes I have been trying self tanners. I also flexed in all but the first pic. I found after losing weight and gaining some definition I liked flexing better. I also thought shaving allowed my to see the definition better. I am also very light skinned so when I shaved I about blinded myself so I have been testing the tanning lotions. I am not doing these things to generate a better response from the forum I am simply doing this for myself only and again trying to look the best I can. Let me know if I'm crazy. I tried to take the pic's in the same light etc so they would be similar as possible. I started Feb 3rd at 186 lbs and am now at 171lbs. I hope to keep cutting a bit further and see what happens. The only negative so far is that my wife has lost a few pounds as well and seems to get compliments multiple times everyday. I have yet to have one person even notice or say anything to me. 15lbs isn't a lot and I don't walk around with my shirt off so I can understand why no one would notice. I just thought after 3 months I would have recived at least one comment from someone. I guess that's why I'm still ok with it because I'm doing it for me and not someone else. Thanks everyone I don't think I would have kept it up without my daily fix of the forums.

Night and day change even though you only dropped 15 lbs the change is dramatic. You gotta be doing it right. When you say people dont notice, I think it's easier for people to say hey you have lost weight (as you were not really that far overweight to start with) than it is for them to say hey your muscles are really looking good, (unless they too are bodybuilding) so I bet they do notice the change but just don't say anything.

Don't go just by what the scales say, you've lost a lot more that 15 lbs body fat. Did you take bodyfat readings?

Were those the muscles u had hiding under the fat, or have you bulked out a lot 2? To gain that much mass while loosing that much fat in 3 months? Whatever you used, u should be the advert for !!! ;)

First off, don't worry about the tanning creams and the hair removal and all the vanity. It's all part of trying to look better, especially if you're pasty. No one on this board will think any less of your improvement because of these steps that you've taken-they were necessary.

You have made massive improvements in three months. It looks to me like you must have lifted hard and done a lot of cardio and improved your posture/body positioning.

People don't necessarily comment when a guy is adding mass or cutting up unless they're really into fitness themselves. Everybody will notice the fat dude who lost 20 lbs but when you wear your shirt, people may not pick up on the changes. What you should do is go back and look at some photos of yourself fully clothed when you started, put on the same clothes and compare how they fit and how you look.

As someone mentioned earlier, people will notice but not say anything because they're too shy about talking about someone's physique. If you had people you worked out with you would notice each other's changes and comment on them, but the average joe/jane who doesn't work out with weights isn't really very aware of it.

I'm almost done with my 133 day goal and there's no way I'll show the improvement you made in 90 days, and I've been busting my ass, so I would say that you should feel lucky to have pretty good genetics.

What was your workout routine?

Wow!!!

Thanks for posting these pics. You have just given me a visual idea of what I would like to achieve over the next 3 months. I know my results might be different, but it sure helps to be able to see what you are working toward. I am about 2 inches shorter than you (5' 8") and about 10 pounds heavier than when you started, so hopefully my fat loss will be more than yours.

For anyone as curious as I am, Duckfan posted some info at his 30 day update here (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=2091)

Excellent work Duckfan! Easy to see the upper body mass you added, as well as the handles shrinking/gone. And as others said, don't just go by the scale; your body composition definitely changed. You may have "only" lost 15 lbs, but you definitely gained muscle.

BTW, congrats on Ernie landing Hairston. :tu:

Great job -- I have just set a 3 month goal :D

I have yet to have one person even notice or say anything to me. That is hard to believe, there is a big difference -- maybe you should just walk around with your shirt off

Wow thanks everyone I appreciate the positive response. Nothing has changed much from my 30 day response to similar questions. For me less has been more I guess. As far as eating habits I never really got into Fitday like a lot of people have. I started to track for a few days and then just dropped it. I did see a thread earlier asking how many people just wing it and so far I am one of them. I have a feeling the lower the body weight the more likely I will have to track everything if I want to get into the lower BF numbers. I do stick to a regular but boring daily routine at work.

Breakfast 7:30 - Oatmeal with skim milk and some egg beaters on occasion.
Snack- 10:30 Whey powder (ATW strawberry)with water, ice and banana.
Lunch- 1:00 Two Costco turkey patties, bag 94% fat free popcorn
Snack-2:30- yogurt with granola, green tea
Dinner- 6:00 or later depending upon daughters softball practice. (I'm the coach) Sensible meal which varies
Snack- time varies. Popcorn, oatmeal, Special K cereal, green tea. It varies depending upon mood.

Lots of water during the day. The weekends are usually up in the air but I keep it somewhat clean.

I dropped all fast food January 23rd along with coke and other soda's. I have an occasional beer or Mike's leamonade but not many anymore. This will get more difficult as Summer nears I'm sure. I stopped drinking a lot of milk and now usually have a cup of skim for breakfast. I also slowed way down on the PB and don't eat as much bread anymore. For me I just kind of feel it out as I go along. It's weird but I feel like my body kinda tells me what I need. I wish I could be more help but without tracking I don't have much else to tell.

Excercise-

More cardio than weights lately.
Day 1 Chest/Tri's. Dumbell press flat and incline. I made my own tri push down machine using a small pulley and vinyl coated cable. I have the pulley attached to the ceiling joist in my basement and the cable wraps around one of my dumbells. When I get a chance I will post a pic of how I did it.This seems to work well but I only have dumbells so I have to be a bit creative. Bench dips and occasionally some dumbell kickbacks or skull crushers.
Day 2 elliptical for 35-40min. Sometimes its in the morning sometimes at night. If I am feeling really good I will do 35 in morning and 35 at night.
Day 3 Bi's and shoulders. EZ bar curls, sitting curls, standing curls, hammer curls. I mix it up doing any of the two and do the other two the next time. Shoulder presses, front raises.
Day 4- Elliptical same as day 2
Day 5- Elliptical same as day 2
Day 6 - Rest
Day 7 Repeat with chest and tri's.

I will usually try and get another day in for elliptical and usually it's one of the weight days but seperated by at least 8 hrs.
So as you can see it's not the best overall program but it's working for me. I still have to add a few days with other body parts and tweak my diet but so far so good. I don't have leg day or back day but I do mix in a few back excercises but not many as I only have dumbells. I'm starting to do pull ups a bit but I have a torn labrum in my shoulder so I don't want to aggravate it if I don't have to. As soon as I get some olympic weights I can hit the legs with my Powertech bench. I would like to get some kind of rack set up but I need more room so that's down the road a bit. My legs get big pretty fast so as soon as I begin they should respond well. I'm not sure I want big legs again as I had some in the past when I played ball and I actually had problems with pants, especially getting jeans to fit right.

So the basic conclusion is that so far it works. I will have to start tracking meals better and get a better lifting program if I want to keep making improvements. As far as BF goes I have calipers but they have me measure near my belly button. As this is the last place to loose fat I still have a fair amount I can pinch so the readings vary a bit. 14%-17% but it also could be operator error. Everywhere else has changed but not near my bb. I will have to try the other methods and see what they say.

Thanks for the kind responses they really do help. The forum here is unlike anything I have seen before. The members here are great which is a huge part in everyones success.
