This is waht I put together. I am planning to buy enough for the month so want to make sure everything looks good and see if I will have the right amount of fat, protein, and carbs from the daily caloric intake (not sure if I woreded that properly), depending on what I put together for each meal.

Here we go:

Tuna
Chicken Breasts (frozen)
Oatmeal
Atkins Syrup
Low Fat cottage cheese
Sweet Potatoes
Brown rice
Extra Lean Ground Turkey Breast
Turkey and chicken sandwhich meat
Turkey burgers (frozen patties)
Whole Wheat Bread
Orange Roughy, Talapia (Frozen Fish)
Shrimp (Frozen)
Egg beaters
Eggs
Natural Peanut butter

That's it for now. Am I looking good so far? I'm sure I'll need to buy a lot of food since I have to have around 2800 calories a day.

Oops, forgot the veggies and fruits. Never even though about that. I guess when it comes to that, green means go, except for the greenberg lettuce? Are fruits bad for you (sugar, carbs, and all)?
And flax oil, I've seen it thrown arounf on th boards is it good to have? What does it add flavor or something?

Your list looks good to me...as a matter of fact, it looks almost EXACTLY like MY grocery list! :tucool: The only differences being, I eat fat free cottage cheese and cod/salmon/perch for my fish (no shrimp).

The only fruits I've been eating are bananas and apples, but I don't eat those regularly. I think you'd do well to try to eat some berries like blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, lots of antioxidents and prety darn good. Once I reach my goal (9.5%), I'll probably start trying to eat a bit more fruit, but until then, I'm trying to stay away from the simple sugars. I've also been trying to eat at least one spinach salad per day along with some carrots.

It looks like you're on the right track! :claplow:

dude, i hope ur going to Costco or something because that could add up easily. Why Egg Beaters and eggs? Why not 1 or the other?

Yea, I'm sure it will add up, but whatever it takes. I'm hoping that it's around $80-$100, which isn't too bad for a month's worth of food, IMO. I will be doing my shopping at Sam's Club, where IO can buy in bulk.

i would find replacements for...
Turkey and chicken sandwhich meat
Turkey burgers (frozen patties)

these always have tons of preservatives, and loaded with sodium, i like to get fresh turkey breast from a market, no bs included

also make sure you get good bread, not just wholemeal, linseed + soy is my favorite, followed by pumpernickel, multigrain is also awesome, basically the more grains the better!

also you may wanna try almond butter instead of peanut butter, it tastes better, and has better fats in it!

Thanks for the info. I think you recommended me going to a butcher for my sandwhich cuts in another thread I posted. I planned on that. You don't mean the delis inside of like say... Walmart or any grocery store do you? You mean an all out butcher?

If you get veggies, they probably won't last an entire month. How about you do two weeks' worth of food? That way in two weeks you won't be stuck with anything you didn't end up liking, and you can grab some fresh fruits and veggies.

It is always easier to stick to your plan if you have the foods available to you.

I agree with all of the above...the "sandwich" meat is totally processed and like taffer said, loaded with sodium. Also, when you're shopping for bread, look in the ingredients, the first thing it should say is 'stone ground' and you shouldn't see the word 'enriched' anywhere. The raw'er the better! Good luck!

I think it looks good mate; it's very similar to my grocery list. Here are the differences however:
I buy very little frozen foods: eg. chicken breasts I buy skinnless boneless in 6 or 8 -packs, which I cook all at once and have throughout several days after buying them; they don't have time to go bad on me;
I have not used Aytkins syrup yet, ... and I just may forego it alltogether; what I don't know, I don't miss :d_smile:
In addition to Turkey sandwich meat, I do also buy the Ham (2% lowfat) sandwich meat - though I've considerably reduced the quantities I buy weekly since I've been cutting; I now by 300 grams (10 oz. or so) every 10 days;
I buy fresh fish only - never frozen - including: Atlantic Salmon, Tilapia, Cod, Burbot, Grouper; since I buy fresh, fish is one of those items I need to go back to the grocery for every few days; I usually buy one 10-15 oz piece of fish at a time, which will be good for 3 meals. I also sometimes buy Shrimp & Scallops, though I reserve those as treats (or for Sushi :drool: ) since they are rather pricey.
For veggies, I really have huge quantities of: Broccoli, Brussel sprouts, beans, mushrooms, spinnach, carrots, sweet potatoes, red & green peppers; iceberg lettuce is NOT part of my diet either;
Lastly for fruit: red grapes, green grapes, Kiwi, oranges, I love Avocado - but just one quarter piece per sitting, 2 bananas/week - usually only one half per sitting;

Have a nice day!

Have you seen the World's Healthiest Foods (http://www.whfoods.com/foodstoc.php)?

I can't get enough of barley myself.

This week's breakfast has been barley berry soup, which I liked so much the first time I tried it I just have to make it over and over again.

i dont live in sydney, although for the melbournian your in luck, goto the queen vic market!!! i shop every saturday there, they sell turkey at one of the butchers, i think they only have it there on a couple of days, but saturday they always have it :)
not only is the turkey free range, no chemicals or other crap, its also cheaper at about $17 a kilo!
also you can pick up absolutly everything cheaper at the market, last time i went there i got bananas and apples for 80cents a kilo, top quality, broccoli is about $2-3 a kilo, you gotta check it out, make sure you explore all the food sections, for a few weeks i thought it was sorta small, then i walked across the road only to find like 3km straight of fruit and veg shops, so much good food :)

maybe there is an equivilant to the QVM in sydney?
