I would first like to thank John for the site. His pictures is probably the main reason I started eating properly and working out a few months ago.

I am 5.10, 33yo. I went from 172lbs to 158lbs in the first 3 months of dieting/working out. My waist went from 37 to 32 in the same 3 months. I also gained quite a bit of upperbody muscle (I had virtually none before).

My waist and weight stayed the same for the last 2 months, but I still have a thick layer of fat (at least 2 inches worth of fat) below my belly button (the fat above the belly button seems to be mostly gone).

I would like to ask your opinion on the best way to lose the 2 inches of fat on my waist. From what I know the stomach tire is the hardest fat to lose, so perhaps it will just take time.

My diet is eating around 25% less than before, no fast/junk food, no prepared food, no sodas, fruit drinks, packaged juices (nothing with corn syrup). I basically buy real food and cook from scratch (I work from home, so that helps). I eat lots of meats and vegetables, but also small amounts of rice, pasta, etc.

I work out by doing 5 sets of pullups, dips, and pushups twice a week (various grips), running twice a week for 45 min, and walking 45-60 min a day.

It sounds to me like what you've got is probably some loose skin, rather than body fat per se. I think you should just keep doing what you're doing and it will eventually tighten up.
Congratulations, by the way. I really admire how you've managed to reach your goals.

I agree, some is probably loose skin.

If you're getting impatient, try dropping a few hundred cals per day and keep the rest of your program the same.

Then track your results and adjust, if necessary. Differnet things work for different people.

Congrats on your progress so far.....you'll get there if you stick with it.

It sounds to me like you're not incorporating enough weight/core training into your routine. That, combined with a good diet, will make a HUGE difference.
