As the title implies, the flax seed oil that I use for my 4th meal is making me sick to my stomach. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. As soon as I take it (about 20-30 minutes later) I have to run to the restroom with uncontrollable stomach cramps and diarrhea. What follows after the bathroom session is a mild nauseousness that lasts for about an hour. I purchase my flax oil from a reputable local retailer (Whole Foods) and the product is always fresh. I keep the oil refrigerated at all times and when I pack my food sack for work the bottle is always on ice to keep it as cold as possible. I have no idea why all of a sudden this is happening. Could it be that my body is rejecting the stuff for some reason? Very weird and aggravating to say the least. I am not sure I can continue to take this stuff much longer.

Is there anything else that I can try that has a good source of Omega 3/6?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

fish oil and fatty fish, nuts, omega-3 eggs, grass-fed beef, and most vegetable oils are good sources of omega 3/6.:eat:

Fish oil is better by far IMO. Men should be wary about flax oil anyway given the positive correlation of alpha linolenic acid with prostate cancer.

I've pretty much quit using flax oil, although I still use some ground flax.

I'll second George's response. Those are exactly my choices.

But no matter where you got your flax oil, it might have still gone rancid.

I will take the suggestions mentioned above. As of today I am not taking it anymore. I will try something else.

Yeah, ground flax has lots of good stuff in it that the oil is lacking....IMO, eating ground flax is much better than taking the oil.
