Hi guys, I am starting a bulk soon and would like to order the right supplements to ensure I maximize muscle growth while minimizing fat growth. I am aiming to gain 2-4 lb per month, have 2500 cal/day, weight lift 4 days a week and cardio 1-2 days (havent decided yet, will see how quick my weight adds). I recently cut from 176-157, ended at ~11%BF and I'm aiming to minimize fat growth as much as possible. During my cut, I would usually eat about 2 hours before I slept, and I would have something small, like some soy nuts, peanuts, and 2 gm fish-oil supplements. It ended up being like 150 calories total, with most of it coming from healthy fats, the rest from protein.

I want to switch it up for my bulk. I want to get more protein before I sleep, aim for 20-30 gm, but am unsure of what else I need before sleep. The main purpose of this meal would be to rebuild muscle while I sleep. I plan to keep my cutting diet pretty much the same (I ate ~2400 cal/day), but cut out a lot of the cardio I was doing. I've been hearing a lot of things about dextrose but am unsure if I need it, and if i do, how much i should consume. I am not carb-sensitive, and was losing weight on a 50c-20f-30p diet. Then again, I was doing a lot of cardio which needed those carbs.

So my question is, what should I do for my last meal every night? I will be using whey powder, and since I haven't supplemented powder before, any suggestions as to which one tastes good would be great too!

Lots of things you can do.

You can eat cottage cheese, scrambled eggs(3) an omelete(3 eggs) with some ham or turkey. Maybe cheese if you'd like. I'm big on eggs(whole eggs) because cholesterol helps muscle growth.

Since your not carb sensitive, hopefully your not sensitive to dairy... If you're going to be using whey, mix it with some milk to slow down the digestion. It's 80% casein, has some fat and carbs. Maybe drink with a tblsp or 2 of peanut butter or olive oil also to slow digestion even more while getting some good macros. Fats at night are also a good thing, as long as they're good fats!

As for which protein. Can't really go wrong with many. Most taste good and mix well, so really for me, it comes down to cost.

Alot of people like ATLs Nitrean.

If I do a protein powder before bed, I generally use ON's 100% Casein product. It's very thick and creamy :eat: I'll blend it with some heavy cream.

My other late night snack is scrambled eggs w/cheese.

So I guess many people think it is a good idea to get some protein before sleep...?

How does ON Nitrocore sound?

24g protien
14g carbs
5 g fiber
5 g fat
1.5 g sat fat
3.5 g good fat

For 2 hours before I goto bed, does that sound good? If so, I'm going to grab be a bucket at the GNC on the way home tmw!

Sounds good. It's very similar to muscle milk. Only cheaper :D

Don't know how much of a hurry you're in, but Nutraplanet has the 6lb jug for $50 shipped. May or may not be cheaper than GNC. I'm guessing it's cheaper, but who knows!
