how much of an issue is this and should i worry about it?? it causes no pain or discomfort at all when it happenes, however i am aware of it.

its not only when squating, if i am sitting in a chair and raise my leg too parralel the same thing happens, so its not just a resistance thing.

opinions anyone? is this something too worry about? should i still squat?.

My knees, and shoulders especially click and make some noises. I can say that my knees have improved and almost stopped after I strengthened them and built up the muscle/tendons or whatever is giving them more support during the exercise. This is just my case, but I'd not worry too much unless it is REALLY noticable. The more you lift (as long as it is a smart weight, not too much. and watch your form) the more chance in the future things might get situated better.

I'm a big believer in chiropractic. Sometimes I'll find on joint or another clicking on me. I stop by my chiropractor, he gives me a lil twist and a lil pop, and instantly the joint doesn't pop any more. Each time he pops it back in place, it holds it's place longer.

My shoulders used to pop a lot several months ago, now they don't pop at all. The action that's causing the pop accelerates wear on the cartilage involved.

thanks for the replys guys.

so it should be ok too carry on squating so long as the clicking dosent cause any pain? its on both knees, but not painfull.

i would visit the chiropractor but just dont have the cash:(

i just dont want too be squating if its likly too cause harm in the future, buti really want too do the excersize, and know if my legs click just when raising my leg of a chair then it might just be me.

if it wears away at cartlige do you think eventulaly it would stop once its gone?

One of my knees does that too. I'm told that it's caused by ligaments and tendons being pulled across the surface of one of the bones at your knee. I've also been told it's harmless. I found that when I first started it was worse and that it's gotten better over time, so there's a possibility that it will go away on its own. I'm sure if you switch up the types of squats you're doing every so often, and if you're not piling on WAY too much weight and are giving yourself ample rest time before squatting again it won't be an issue.

I remember there was a time when my knee would click when I walked occasionally. I never gave up walking. :)

I've found that as I strengthen the area of concern, the pops and clicks tend to go away.

I find that these only occur with me when performing warm up sets or the first 2 sets, after that go's away.

i noticed my knees clicking less this time around:) its a new excersize for me and i guess it could just be a shock too the system.
