Jeeeeeezus....

This world is trying to slowly castrate its men a little at a time....

Something that seems to be getting lost in this world is that a Dad and a Mom are supposed to teach their son what a man is....

If any of the guys I knew wore that stuff, I'd punch him in the face and tell him to go buy some cover up...

What the he'll is so newsworthy about this? 15 years ago when I was playing live shows, we'd just mooch our girlfriend's makeup and get them to apply it for us. Thankfully there's no photographic evidence of me back in those days... But I know a few musicians who still wear it daily, weird as it might seem! But they're musicians. Those kinds of guys can get away with those little eccentricities...

Yeah, but this isn't about musicians doing live shows. This is aimed at guys for daily use!

It's no more ridiculous than women wearing it on a daily basis. Guys think it makes them look more attractive. Women think it makes them look more attractive. It's only our culture that makes it OK for one group and not the other.

While your philosophy may be correct I for one think daily use of make-up for men is stupid. I'm a whore to our current culture.

Of course I did try to use products to cover up acne in my teens.

Well of course -- there are no quantifiable attractiveness units floating around in the ether for us to measure ... It is all cultural, but culture doesn't form in a vacuum. Men generally value physical attractiveness in women moreso than women value those qualities in men, so it only makes sense that there is a cultural asymmetry between men and women when it comes to enhancing looks via makeup.

Certainly, it isn't immoral or anything like that, but I still don't want to see guys wearing makeup, dresses, g-strings, bikinis, lingerie, etc. etc. en masse. Yeah, it is my own personal bias, but I think the idea of "manscara" is ultra-lame.

That said, I did wear makeup to school once in highschool. I got in a fight and had a few cuts and bruises on my face, so I covered them up with makeup.

Yeah, I think daily use of makeup for men is stupid. But I think daily use of makeup for women is pretty stupid too. :) But parties and other events are an entirely different question. :madpimp:

And possibly eye black is about all the "make up" a man should wear.

I can't imagine taking any man seriously who wears mascara! And I'd like to see the woman who is with him! Is she with him because she wants some one who can go to the salon with her, buy make-up with her, and get his hair highlighted with her...but with additoinal benefits??

Sorry, but I'm almost as old-fashioned as they come: men better have a damn good reason for crying; know how to work on a car; open doors for women; have rough hands; and kick the ass of any boy wearing make-up!!

I think some women think like that ... lol. A co-worker used to brag about how her boyfriend would get manicures and pedicures with her, and they'd get their eyebrows done together. He also used to put on makeup to even out his skin tone... :D

Sorry, but I'm almost as old-fashioned as they come:

This sounds like a challenge....let's see how I measure up.

men better have a damn good reason for crying

PASS: I always have damn good reasons for crying.

know how to work on a car

FAIL: I fail this one miserably. When my car doesn't start, I open the hood and stare at the billions of parts and pieces of machinery. Then, through a process of meticulous deliberation, I usually conclude that: "One of these millions of car parts is not working in its factory authorized manner!". I then proceed to curse and throw things, and maybe kick my car a few times before calling a mechanic.

I did install a water pump once. Do I get partial credit?

open doors for women

SEMI-PASS: I open doors for women I know....but not for women I don't know (I've seen a few women get pissed about having doors opened for them).

have rough hands

PASS: If I am allowed to toot my own horn here, I pass this one with flying colors. Hell, I'd say I even pass with extreme prejudice. Thanks to deadlifts and rows, my hands are so rough that they would put most steel workers to shame.

and kick the ass of any boy wearing make-up

PASS: I would definitely kick the ass of any boy wearing makeup.*

*Disclaimer: by "kick the ass of", I mean that he would be verbally assaulted with an impressive arsenal of clever quips and witty ripostes.

So, looks like I get about a 3.5/5 = 70% ... roughly a C-. Not great, but at least I don't wear "manscara"! ;)

I worked with a guy like that once, and it made me sick! What could he have been thinkin??? And he wasn't even embarrassed to tell us he had a pedicure to exfoliate dead skin right before he had his hair highlighted! I don't even get that crap done!!! What a shame. :(

Well, it goes without saying that if your beer spills, you may shed a tear. The woman should just look the other way, and pretend she didn't see. And you should just say in a gruff voice, "I've just got something in my eye."

Yes. You do get partial credit for installing a water pump! :tu: Very manly, indeed! :flex:

Women who don't allow a man to be polite and respectful by opening a door for them are an embarrassment. It almost seems as if they take this as an insult. It's as if, by opening the door, they think the man is saying, "You're just a woman. Here, I'll do it for you." Bulls***!!! Ladies, men do this out of RESPECT for you as a woman!

Your hands sound amazing! No manicures or exfoliation...just blood sweat and tears made them what they are? :dreamy:

Kicking the ass verbally of any boy wearing make-up (because no male wearing make-up can be called a man) would probably make said boy cry without even having to lay a hand on him...even though he didn't spill a beer!!! He probably only drinks fruity little drinks anyway... So, yes, that definitely counts.

:dreamy:

 So, that's how you like 'em, huh? Well, there are still some of us left!

I can't imagine taking any man seriously who wears mascara! That was my first reaction too. But then I thought of some.
Robbie Williams, as mentioned in the article
Alice Cooper :dreamy:
Steven Tyler
Criss Angel
Robert Downey Jr.
Johnny Depp

I don't know if I'd really want to go out for manicures with them, but I certainly would not mind if they felt the need to exfoliate and moisturize before climbing into bed. :nope:

I see your point, Guava. But for some of those guys, isn't that more of a costume? All I know is my man's skin better not be softer than mine!

These days there's dudes gettin' facials
Manicured, waxed and botoxed
With deep spray-on tans and creamy lotiony hands
You can't grip a tacklebox

Yeah with all of these men linin' up to get neutered
It's hip now to be feminized
I don't highlight my hair
I've still got a pair
Yeah honey, I'm still a guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yQ9a-hJVy0)

i'm not a believer in open unwarranted violence however

and if my girl asks me to pick her up makeup, i have quite a bit of experience in MAC so i can make it happen as well :-)

and for the record, it's alot easier to REQUIRE a girl to 'keep it waxed' when you take care of yourself as well.

A little history that you can see in old movies. Men of prominence used to have their nails manicured. Real men! My father did and I assure you he was a real man, all 84 years of his life.

As late as the 1950s, there was a manicurist and a shoeshine guy in every good barber shop. All men that weren't manual workers wore a suit to work and the vast majority wore a hat. Hardly anyone wore a beard.

You could tell the men from the women.

According to the media , men these days are supposed to cry at the drop of a hat, be super-sensitive, have no hair on their bodies, be not too muscular,do the dishes and stay at home to take care of the kids as well as cook.

As you can see, this fits a description of a woman from the 50's.

Men will next be asked to throw Tupperware parties while sporting a "beehive" hairdo and wearing a strapless dress.

There should be no list of criteria for a man to pass muster with a woman.

Because if you lay a list on a woman they'll tell you to go to hell.

Beards: depends on how well it's worn. Close-shaven beards can be very sexy, but I like clean-cut also. Just depends on the guy.

I don't wax, because to be honest, I don't know how. I do shave, though.
