I just picked up a new powertech rack when I moved into my new apartment and I like it a lot. However, the only place I have for the rack is in the second bedroom/office, which has carpeted floors. At my old place I had carpet as well but it was lower profile so it didn't seem to impact me as much when squatting and such. I was curious if anyone had any ideas of some kind of flooring or a platform I could build/purchase to place on top of the carpeting for additional stability since I can't really remove it?

I built a platform by creating a plywood base layer and then laid horse stall mats on top of the plywood.
It was pretty easy...
Materials that I used:
- Six sheets of 8' x 4' x 3/4" plywood
- Box of 1.25" wood screws
- Four 4' x 6' horse stall mats
Firts layer of plywood (using 3 sheets) like this:

Second layer of plywood (using 3 sheets) like this:

Use the screws to attach the first layer to the second layer.
Creates a 8' X 12' suface.
Then lay the four horse stall mats on the top.
I put mine on top of concrete...but it seems like it would work on almost any surface....

Excellent suggestion. I'll have to give this a try this weekend. The only thing I'm concerned about is that platform is quite a bit larger than what I have space for, but I'm sure I can figure something out.
