View Full Version : HELP! I lost EVERYTHING on my computer!
Nowhereman Sat, July 19th, 2008, 03:31 PM Everthing is gone. I needed to reset the system, and that was a b**** and a half. I lost wedding pictures, honeymoon pictures, work, sites, music, ALL my fitness e-books!
I heard that nothing is ever completley lost on a PC once its on there. Is there a way to obtain all that info.
I'm desperate!
Thanks
Frank123 Sat, July 19th, 2008, 04:13 PM Obviously this advise is too late for you now, but for others all backup. Hard drives are so cheap these days that you can add a second drive and use a program such as Acronis True Image to backup important data.
There are data recovery services that MAY be able to help but from what I hear they're very expensive.
profdlp Sat, July 19th, 2008, 04:13 PM Describe in detail what you see on the screen when you start the computer. (Error messages, etc.)
Also, what Operating System are you using? (Vista, XP, whatever.)

and give as much information as you can.
Nowhereman Sat, July 19th, 2008, 07:01 PM I was able to recover my pics. Man EVERYTHING that I have viewed came out. John was there posing between my wedding pics. There were Wasteland pics I haven't seen in forever. That guy with the purple speedos that used to come out on this website. EVERYTHING! Which is kind of good. Still it cost me a pretty penny. But worth it for all those pictures.
I'm now waiting to see how good the program is for obtaining folders and documents.
Doubleoqueso Sat, July 19th, 2008, 07:12 PM That would've been a serious loss
Glad you found some help :tucool:
Chadster Sat, July 19th, 2008, 08:36 PM I bought a cheap network storage box that holds two cheap 320gig SATA hard drives in a mirroring RAID array. Total cost was less than $400.
Sent Sun, July 20th, 2008, 07:36 AM You could also look into Amazon S3 and store critical stuff online there

I spent 200 buks, and 100 more for the warranty help (they didn't help much at HP though).
I was able to retrieve the documents as well. The only thing is that it renamed the files as FILE1, FILE2, FILE3, etc. There are 700 hundred PDF files. I haven't even seen my word documents yet. :scared:
Renaming them is a task.
But at least I got all my e-books and stuff, as well as some that I had lost previously. And my PC is running better than ever.

Too funny... Did you get any weird looks when you picked it up from the store?:spaz:
