Hi,

I'm on the lookout for a heart rate monitor that I can use while I'm swimming. A chest strap isn't very practical (I don't think), and it would obviously have to be waterproof.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Alistair

I've got a Polar Beat (the MOST basic Polar HRM) and it works wonderfully. The chest strap is water proof, I don't know about the watch part (it's probably not).

FWIW, I don't think the chest strap would be an issue while swimming. Just get it on nice and snug. It shouldn't come loose and I don't see how it could get in your way!

Well if the chest strap stays on, I guess its not an issue. In any case, from what I've been reading, all the heart monitors which don't have a chest strap, don't provide continuous monitoring, which is a bit of a pain.

FYI the Polar site says that their heart monitor watch parts are fine under water, but they don't recommend pushing buttons.

Thanks for the feedback :)
