View Full Version : peeing
bled12345 Thu, July 10th, 2008, 12:03 AM So I've been eating alot healthier, and I think if I keep this up for a few months I'll shed some pounds. But the question I have is that since I've started cutting, I've been having to pee ALOT. Is this associated with fat loss? Is it normal ?
gregwool Thu, July 10th, 2008, 08:39 AM My immediate guess would be that you're probably drinking more water as a result of your new lifestyle? I know that's been the case with me.
Doubleoqueso Thu, July 10th, 2008, 10:01 AM That happened to me at first, some time ago. I kept drinking lots of water, though. Eventually, I went back to going about as often as I used to, just for a lot longer each time than I used to.
kevin_in_ga Thu, July 10th, 2008, 10:19 AM You're cutting, so you probably are working on a reduced calorie intake, and keeping your carbs to 40% or less. Carbs are converted to glycogen, which can bind three molecules of water for every glycogen molecule. By cutting out carbs as you have done, you are reducing the amount og blood glycogen and therefore the amount of retained water. This means you pee a lot more, especially when combined with drinking 2 liters or more of water daily.

whoa! thats exactly what I was going to say :D
With the amount of water I drink, I use the washroom anywhere 1 to 4 hours. I have actually started to get bored of having to run to the bathroom... but its in the name of good health, so I'll deal with it.

Thanks for this thread and for the replies! I was about to create a new thread for the same question.
Chadster Thu, July 17th, 2008, 10:28 PM When I lost 97 lbs a few years ago I joked around that I could have used a catheter. It was so bad that I always scoped out the bathrooms everywhere we went. Now I still go a lot because I drink a lot and people get annoyed when I travel because I stop so much.
theleanfish Fri, July 18th, 2008, 01:23 AM Water is the best substance you can take for fat loss, period. I tried to deny myself of it for too long but it's essential. Now I try to drink at least 2-3 nalgenes a day.
