I've been lurking on the forums for a little over a month and decided to get in gear regarding my fitness, or rather my lack of fitness.

Anyways, as my stats list, i'm 25 years old, 6'5.5"@251 or so. I'm currently getting my diet in check, slowly. I've increased my water consumption and cut out soda almost entirely(still drink one diet soda a day). Fast food, fried food, and other "heavy" foods(things involving cheeses and white sauces with pasta etc..) are no longer an option for me. I'm not a big candy/sweets eater and I don't drink either.

I used to be in shape, but eventually let it go when I was around 19. When I was 12-13, I was 6"0"@205 with a BF around 12 or 13%. By 15 and after a couple years of lifting and playing sports, I weighed between 240-245 and stood around 6'3" or so. It's kind of different being larger than my old gym teachers, they didn't seem to fond of me after I refused to play football or basketball for them. Baseball was my game, and track&field seemed to call to me.

Anyways, back then it didn't matter what I ate. It seemed like all I would do is eat a lot, drink some protein shakes, hit the weights and I would gain mass. Once I bought a car, it was pretty much over for me. By 19 I was around 190 and kept up with running until a couple minor ankle injuries stopped me. I just never picked it up again.

So here I am, six years later and about 45-50lbs too much.:doh:It's all going to change though, i'm done with how I feel and look. Absolutely done.

First plan of attack is to cut out the crappy diet. I still have some reading to do on that, but it's coming. My excercise routine(started two days ago) is slowly coming back into effect, but I got rid of all my weights years ago so all i've been doing is body-weight excercises and some cardio. I'll be doing that until I can find a nice set of weights, hopefully soon. I can't wait to start lifting again.

I guess i'll be cutting until i'm around 210 or 200 depending on how I look/feel, with an ultimate goal of being back around 235-240 with around 8-10% BF. I might go bigger, but I don't know what the "too big" threshold is for my frame anymore.

Sorry for the novel.

Welcome to JSF! Glad to hear that you're making the decision to change. As I am somewhat of a newb myself, as I joined this site about 6 months ago. Do yourself a big favor and read all of the stickies on top of this forum. They are loaded with great information that will help you reach your goal. You think your post is a novel.. wait till you get to the stickies,.

This may sound silly, but you may want to keep track of your progress each week, either by taking measurements and bf calculations, scale weighings, or even taking pictures of yourself each month. Its crazy how much of a mind game losing weight is, but these things will keep you motivated. Sometimes, i take out old clothes that do not fit me anymore and put it in front of me so i can look at it every day.

Best of luck with your goals! :gl:
