Hi

Since starting my fitness journey on Friday I did 5x5 of 20kg (stronglifts program) and have been aching in my pecs ever since. Is this normal?

it could be the overhead barbell, bench, or dips, but whatever it is its bloody aching. Not in an hospital, pulled something way. In a tight and tense way.

With how i feel I don't think i'd be able to do one squat at the moment, infact I don't think I could reach behind that far onto the bar!

My form seems good, i've studied videos and stronglifts.com articles well. Is it just beginner muscle ache'ness or should I be concerned?

I am eating well, lots of protein, carbs after workout, 3 shakes a day (2water in morning, 1 milk night).

Cheers, Stefan :bb:

Probably just DOMS (delayed onset of muscular soreness).

As long as it isn't an actual injury (which it doesnt sound like) then it's not much to worry about.

I agree -- it is probably just DOMS....probably from doing dips and bench press. DOMS will lessen after you've done the program for a couple of weeks....

Thanks!

How should I deal with DOMS?

If on Monday I still feel like I do, should I push on, same weight as the program states and do as best I can. Quite literally working through the DOMS until my muscles adapt.

Or should I go light and weight for the DOMS to clear?

Thanks, Stefan

If the pain is still pretty severe, I'd definitely take it easy...as that is a sign that your muscles haven't recovered yet. If it is mild, you can probably do your normal workout. DOMS will greatly decrease over the next couple of weeks...
