Are these healthy to throw into a diet? Creatine is a muscle builder and i get 5g's a day from my daily protein bar- would adding another 5-10g's be ok? The zinc i get comes from meats i eat but i hear it increases testosterone- now being a teen and all would adding extra zinc into a diet be a good idea? an adult male is soposed to get around 10-15 mg's of zinc a day, would adding 30mg's in supplement form wreck havoc on my body? Im asking now as a local store is having a big sale and creatine and zinc are some of things going for low prices. Anyways thanks in advance.

Hey Rhino, if you have any extra money to spend, spend it on high quality food. Not supplements. That's what I do, and it works for me!

Actually I have a similar query. Recently I bought some ZMA which is supposed to enhance strength (testosterone as well). The recommended dosage is 3 capsules before bed but that would mean taking 90 mg of zinc. Isn`t this dangerous?

Look on the label again. You are most likely getting 30gr zinc total. Not 90.

ZMA never has done anything for me in the past. The test release is likely due to the deeper sleep you are supposedly receiving. Personally, ZMA does just the opposite for me. It keeps me awake and gives me wild dreams. The best time I've actually taken this stuff is just prior to training. Magnesium enhances muscle contraction and the B6 acts as a GDA.

I'm not sold on ZMA either....:nope:

I went through a bottle in the fall and it did not help me with sleep at all....When I really need a good nights sleep...I take an Advil PM.

I will never spend a nickle on ZMA again.

Different strokes for different folks ~ I'm a ZMA believer. I feel much more rested in the morning if I take my ZMA before I go to bed. I gave a bunch to my dad and he agrees. I enjoy the lucid dreams, as well :D

If you are absolutely stuck and have no options....eat a protein bar.

Other than that...avoid them. Spend the money on chicken breasts or beef slices from the Deli.

I went on a protein bar kick for awhile....to see if they lived up to their claims. While they may indeed contain protein, I found they do nothing for me except make me feel like crap.

When I use real food I feel a whole lot better.....

I can't see a guy as young as you needing extra zinc.....unless your diet is a total train-wreck.

I'll offer this unsolicited advice though:-

EAT A WIDE VARIETY OF FOODS.

If you had Chicken yesterday....eat beef today....tomorrow eat fish.

If you had an apple yesterday...have an orange today.....tomorrow have strawberries.

Try never eating the same thing two days in a row.

The wider the variety , the wider your source of nutrients.:)

I get dreams for sure when I take ZMA, but I do still sleep better.

Well the ZMA helps me sleep a little better but I don`t get a deep sleep so I don`t feel that refereshed in the morning. Sometimes I had other unusual experiences which mybe dream related.
