I've never been able to really nail the form for this lift but its been getting better. My last 1RM was 270 and today after a 5*5*5 starting at 225 to 235 to 245 I did a bonus set of 2*255 and 2*265 and threw it up pretty easily so here soon I'm feeling a 300lb Clean.

Pretty impressive. I'm not even close to this, the most I've gotten is 190. Almost had 195 a couple days ago.

275 is a long-term goal of mine...225 in the short-term. Not sure if I'll ever get 300...definitely a good goal but at least for now I'm focusing on bringing my squat and deadlift up.

Seriously, though, awesome goal, best of luck :tucool:

I was in the same boat as Chicanerous is with his clean and being stuck around 225, then I maxed and I smashed through that plateau that I was at for really 4 or 5 months... 300 is really not too far away. My form does really need cleaned up though, I've been practicing it on my Thursdays instead of doing hang clean, I practice my power clean form with lower weight.

Hit 275 today and it was game over. I took two weeks off but its been a little bit since I last maxed so I decided to do it today anyway. However, the form sucked in the worst way so for the next couple weeks I'm going to put off getting stronger with poor form and spend time practicing the lift.

Sheller, you should make a training journal. You have some beastly numbers.

If you dipped at all you would have 300+.

Nice pull. :tucool:

Check out this tip I posted at the end of this thread: http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=43202

Bringing your feet in closer at the start (use a stance you could do a deep FSQ with) and trying to set up like that will clean up the beginning of your pull a lot. For the feet splaying, just drilling the catch over and over again with a non-splayed stance seems to be the best way to go about it. Also, you have to work through any fear that might be linked to not getting under fast enough, so making sure you have a strong front squat and perhaps drilling some squat cleans from the high hang may help on that front.

I splay a bit too and my form still needs improvement as well though.

If you dipped at all you would have 300+.
Maybe.

Watch where his hips are when he receives versus where they are when he stands up with the weight. He receives with them around where his knees are when he's standing up. If he were to squat down instead of splay, he'd be receiving just above parallel, which is around the lowest you can go before you need to turn the movement into a squat clean or miss it. So, if he cleaned his form up and gained anything, I'd be more apt to attribute it to an overall better pull than dipping under correctly.

Haha, I love the youtube comment pete! I spent some time practicing today with what you just said, and I also devised this set up in order to get my legs used to bending instead of splaying.

the space between the 25lb stacks is about where my feet should be when I start so it just keeps them in that spot.

I started a journal, but was to lazy to sit down and fill it in every night. Maybe this summer.

I've just started doing these cleans, but I think I'll improve pretty quickly once I fix my form. This is basically my first session seriously training cleans:

I'm definitely aiming for 300lbs, just dont know when I'll have it by.

Nice 275lb clean, Bsheller.

Squat cleaned 240 this morning. I really wanted 250, but just missed it.

Thanks. The squat clean feels way better and less awkward than just power cleaning it up.
