View Full Version : New forum software (v3.7.0) - comments, questions & problems
John Stone May 14th, 2008, 02:34 PM The new hardware and software upgrades have been completed!
This thread is specifically for comments, questions & problems related to the new forum software.
Any questions or comments about the new hardware or general comments that are not directly related to the forum software should go in the existing JSF Upgrade Thread (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=42746).
There are large number of new features in this version of the forum software. I encourage you to look around, play with settings, explore and have fun. :)
If you get stuck or want to bone up on the new features, please read the following:
- Help with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, Reading Messages and Posting Messages (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_board_faq)
- Help with blogs (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/faq.php?faq=vbblog_faq#faq_vbblog_faq_general)
Most features are available to all users, however some features are enhanced for members with upgraded accounts. A few features are only available to paying members. Please see the next post for details on this subject.
Thanks, have fun and enjoy! :)
John Stone May 14th, 2008, 02:39 PM One of the things I had to do was figure out if any of the new features should be for paying members only.
Obviously without the paying members none of this would have been possible, so that was one consideration.
Another consideration is my number one goal is to keep this forum as conducive as possible to allowing ALL members/visitors--paying or not--to reach their goals.
With those two thoughts in mind, I think I've struck a nice balance. Those who don't want to upgrade their membership will not be missing out on any features that I feel would be useful for reaching their goals, and the paying members will get some cool perks as a way of saying "thanks".
In short:
-- All members will be able to create blogs. I feel this is something that is important, and I don't feel comfortable "charging" for it.
-- All members will be able to create customized profiles and their own photo galleries. Paying members will be allowed to post far more pictures than non-paying members, however.
-- Bronze+ members can create their own social groups, and will also therefore become moderators of these groups. I need to be able to trust that the creators of social groups will moderate them in accordance with the JSF rules. Restricting who can create the groups by membership level is a fairly reasonable filter.
-- Bronze+ members will now be able to use animated avatars, profile pictures and signature photos.
Of course all this is in addition to the current supporting member packages. For complete details, please see this page (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/announcement.php?f=24&a=5).
There may be additional features added for paying members as I better learn the features of the new software.
dkmahkee May 14th, 2008, 03:35 PM looks cool so far! Thanks for doing such a great job with the site John! :tucool:
bigmex44 May 14th, 2008, 03:37 PM Great job John! Thanks for all the updates! For most part pretty smooth. When I "Reply" to a message, the window is slow opening up.
Also, before we used to have a "HOME" option when in the Forums. It looks like it got replaced by "BLOG". Is there another way to get to the Home forums page once I am in thread?

X2
Cant go "home" :blank:
Ectomorphic May 14th, 2008, 03:39 PM New toys, awesome. :D
Ever since you mentioned the social groups thing I've been thinking about a "By Skinny Bastards, For Skinny Bastards" group. I feel like the small fish in the big pond with all these big, buff meso and endo people walking around. We skinny people are an endangered species and need out our little wildlife refuge. But seriously, it'd be awesome to be able to collect them into one easily identifiable group.
For the other guys, try clicking on the logo at the top of every page. That's what I do. It goes back to the index page for the forums.
dkmahkee May 14th, 2008, 03:39 PM X2

I noticed that too, I got used to clicking on "Home"
However, if you just click on the logo for the site it does the same thing :)
badgolfer May 14th, 2008, 03:40 PM Also, before we used to have a "HOME" option when in the Forums. It looks like it got replaced by "BLOG". Is there another way to get to the Home forums page once I am in thread?
I used that button a lot as well. I started clicking the "tree" at the top of every thread to get back to the forum front page. It may be confusing for some people.
John Stone May 14th, 2008, 03:47 PM However, if you just click on the logo for the site it does the same thing :)
Yep, much bigger target, too.
You'll get used to it. :)
woodan May 14th, 2008, 03:52 PM Can we get the "new posts" button back?
John Stone May 14th, 2008, 03:53 PM Can we get the "new posts" button back?
It's there, they moved it to the "search" button. :)

Aha! Those sneaky devils.
digitalnebula May 14th, 2008, 04:10 PM Good stuff John. You really take care of us!
I'm proud to be a platinum supporter!
This fall...lifetime baby! :madpimp:
Seltzer May 14th, 2008, 04:41 PM Thanks John!
Archistrategos May 14th, 2008, 04:42 PM BTW if anyone's smiley buttons, etc. stopped working, you need to allow scripts from yui.yahooapis.com

Forums load noticeably faster from my end, John! :tucool:
guava May 14th, 2008, 04:47 PM :claphigh:
It looks the same as before. :claplow: I'm so relieved. :D
It's there, they moved it to the "search" button. :)
There's a link for Quicklinks > View Today's Posts
but if I hit it, it says I must wait 30 seconds if I try to click on it.
Is this some kind of cookies/refresh issue?
Edit: Also, the one under "search" is doing the same thing for me right now.
I skimmed through the help files, but I couldn't find an answer.
Is there a difference between a contact and a friend.
Computer illiterate. :o

Is this some kind of cookies/refresh issue?
Computer illiterate. :oThe forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between searches, so that's what's happening there (all those "today's posts" and "new posts" type-links are really just predefined searches).
Actually, that is a leftover setting from the old system. Searches are very CPU-intensive, and they were starting to really kill overall performance on the old hardware.
Based on what I'm seeing now (the web server is practically asleep even with 600+ people on ), I can probably safely decrease that timeout to 10 seconds. Consider it done. :)
John Stone May 14th, 2008, 05:04 PM It's wonderful to read so many positive comments about the upgrades. This has been one heck of a large undertaking, and there were a lot of hurdles to overcome. It's very satisfying to see my plans finally come to fruition.
Thanks to all of you who made this possible. :dreamy:

But it's been about 10 minutes since my last search, and I'm still getting the warning.
This forum requires that you wait 10 seconds between searches. Please try again in 10 seconds.
both from under the Quicklinks Today's Posts link (which still appears), and under the search bar (which has Today's Posts and New Posts options).
(However, I have a link on a self-created home page on my computer, and whatever link is in there works fine.)
geopro May 14th, 2008, 06:18 PM Yes!! I agree!! I would love the "New Posts" button back too!! :)
John Stone May 14th, 2008, 06:24 PM Nice! :tu:

Wait, you're getting that message every time, even after waiting 10 seconds? I'm not able to duplicate that. Anyone else?
John Stone May 14th, 2008, 06:25 PM Yes!! I agree!! I would love the "New Posts" button back too!! :)
It never left, it's now under the "search" button.

Yes, it's every time.
I have no way to find new posts in this forum interface, either through the Quicklinks or through the Search bar. Though I do see the new tools like the blogs, albums, friends, etc.
But the offline link I created on my home page works (it ends with "do=getnew")

Sounds like the same link you would get by clicking the link here at JSF (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/search.php?do=getnew)
Please try clearing your cache. I tried three computer, three accounts and three browsers and I simply can't duplicate the problem you are describing. :(

Simply clearing your cache won't delete your saved passwords. If your passwords are gone, it sounds like you cleaned house in there.
Ectomorphic May 14th, 2008, 07:42 PM The forums were already pretty fast for me before, though they do seem to be a bit snappier now. I didn't seem to have experienced the slowness people are talking about. The only slowness I ever had at JSF was the 1am-PST-lag that also seems to happen every night to several other forums I go to (regardless of what timezones they're in, it's always 1am my time), which lasts anywhere from 5-20 minutes.

Ah, that's the automated daily backup. The database tables have to be flushed and locked before they can be backed up. When the tables are locked, there can be no access.
The daily backups will, of course, still happen, but the process will be much quicker than it was the past. A matter of minutes.
1FastGTX May 14th, 2008, 07:51 PM Good grief the forums are a lot faster for me! :tucool:

Okay I didn't see it in the FAQ (maybe I missed it?), but what file types? Just animated gif files? Or can we do swf/flv or something like that?
Being the picture whore I am this was the first thing I wanted to hear more about. :D

It's easy. :)
Ectomorphic May 14th, 2008, 08:14 PM I actually never noticed that we couldn't do animated gifs before. I guess that's why my esc button and adblock have been so dusty and idle at JSF. Curiously, I never realized how pleasant and headache free (i.e. animated gif free) the JSF experience was.
MAD180 May 14th, 2008, 08:27 PM Good work on the upgrade John, its nice to have someone running the forums that cares about the infrastructure behind it. Thanks! :D

theprof May 14th, 2008, 10:04 PM Great job John! like others mentioned the response time increase is noticeable. Also some of the new features like the blog and the extra add-ons for the customization of the profile is neat plus there are more features that I haven't even really looked at yet seem neat from the description. I guess I'll have to check it out.
Thanks :tu:

Interesting.
When you came to the forum, did the PM show as new, or read?

New. I got the pop up window that I had a new PM for me. However, when I opened the message it was the same thing I had seen last week.

May I have your permission to look at the PM database so I can help you troubleshoot this? Be aware that I will see some of your private messages, but only to the extent necessary to troubleshoot the problem.
Also, if you could forward the PM to me that would be helpful.
I understand if this is not something you're comfortable with, but unfortunately it's the only way I can diagnose the problem.
Thanks.
DFS May 15th, 2008, 11:02 AM About an hour ago on the main site page I was getting some funny text. It is opening just fine now, but it was giving me some funky stuff...it was in between classes here at work and I didn't think to copy/paste the error message on the fly. Perhaps it was on my end.

Yes, that is fine. I will try to forward the "new" and the original one to you in a bit. It was no big issue, just thought I would bring it up.
guava May 15th, 2008, 11:32 AM I'm still getting the 10 second error under the Quicklinks > Today's Posts, and sometimes get an error (even after several minutes have elapsed without me searching) on the Today's Posts or New Posts under the Search button.
Is it only me?
It's working some of the time, so that's kind of puzzling.

Nah, I caused that. I fixed it, it won't happen again. :)
Yes, that is fine. I will try to forward the "new" and the original one to you in a bit. It was no big issue, just thought I would bring it up.
OK, I show that the author of that PM did send it yesterday. It was the latest in a series between you two (saying "Thank you!"). Maybe he re-sent it by accident, but I don't see anything wrong here.
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 11:47 AM Is it only me?
Sounds like it. I've not had any other reports, and can't duplicate the problem here.
You said clearing your cache fixed it (at least for a while), so I suspect something is amiss in your cache. Maybe it's becoming corrupted somehow. Try turning your cache off temporarily and see if that solves it.
bigmex44 May 15th, 2008, 11:54 AM Thanks John for looking into it.
I am having the same issue as Guava. Sometimes I can get by it by clicking on the logo and then doing the search. However, it has been annoying that I can't look at "new posts" even if I have tried to do a search in over 15 mins.

Have you tried clearing your cache?
I'll check with the software developers and see if there have been any reports of this.
Let me know if clearing your cache works.
EDIT: I'm seeing some other reports of this from other admins. I'll make this a priority and will update this thread with any new issues. Thanks for reporting Guava and bigmex44! :)
1FastGTX May 15th, 2008, 12:18 PM This one is pretty minor but I thought I'd post it just in case it was of interest.
When I reply to threads or post new threads, I usually click the "Increase Size" icon to increase the size of the editor box several times. See screenshot if this doesn't make sense:
26143
Previously (before the software update) it would "remember" the size and keep it at that size for a while. Now, when I go to create another reply, the size of the editor box is back to the default, smaller size every time.
Again, this really isn't a big deal and probably a nit-picky report. It's not exactly a bug or a problem by any means. But just in case you wanted to know I thought I'd inform you. :)
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 12:45 PM EDIT: I'm seeing some other reports of this from other admins. I'll make this a priority and will update this thread with any new issues. Thanks for reporting Guava and bigmex44! :)
OK, there have only been a very few reports of this out of all the vB communities out there. The official stance of the developers is that it is not a bug in the software. I'm not convinced of that yet, but I think we need to find out why it's only happening to a couple of you.
When you get the error message, how many more seconds does it say you need to wait? For example, I need the bolded part:
"This forum requires that you wait 10 seconds between searches. Please try again in 1 seconds."
Also, what forum "skin" are you using? Default, Old School New Beat or Plain?
I've been trying and trying and I simply can not duplicate this problem, even using a normal user account.
When you cleared your cache, did you restart your browser? Try navigating away from JSF, clear your cache, close all browser windows and then come back.
Thanks.

John, I cleared out my cache. When I clicked on "New Posts", it said I had to wait another 10 seconds. Even though I was reading this post for at least 30 seconds since the last time I had checked "New Posts".
I have been using the default skin. I never knew you had more than one. :-)

OK, I created a custom style for testing. Please click this link (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/index.php?styleid=37) to switch to the test style. Clear your cache, and see if you can get the problem to happen with the test style.
You can switch back to your preferred style at the very bottom left-hand side. There's a dropdown "style chooser" box there.
guava May 15th, 2008, 01:40 PM OK, I created a custom style for testing. Please click this link (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/index.php?styleid=37) to switch to the test style. Clear your cache, and see if you can get the problem to happen with the test style.I'm confused.
I don't see New Posts in this style.
When I get the error, it usually it says 10 seconds. I can try again 4 seconds later, then it says 6 seconds, then try again 6 seconds later and it works. Or not. I'm not sure if it's been consistent.
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 01:45 PM I'm confused.

It's at the top, just in a different place. You'll see it.
guava May 15th, 2008, 01:45 PM Oh, and I've been using the navy background style with grey type, not sure what it's called, but there's a box near the bottom that says default, so that's probably it.
I have a new question too.
In the old format, there was a spot to find all the posts by a user from that user's profile page. I don't see it anymore.
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 01:48 PM In the old format, there was a spot to find all the posts by a user from that user's profile page. I don't see it anymore.

John Stone May 15th, 2008, 01:50 PM It's no longer in the "User Profile"
Wrong, see above.
bigmex44 May 15th, 2008, 01:52 PM It seems like it is a lot better and acting like it is supposed to. IF I read a thread and go back (after about 20 secs) and click on "New Posts", I get what I want. However, if I go to search and try 2 searches within 10 seconds, it gives me the error message I expected.
DFS May 15th, 2008, 01:52 PM Wrong, see above.Oh, it's there too. :D But it is also in the drop down when you click on someones name.
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 01:55 PM Oh, it's there too. :D
You said it wasn't in the user's profile anymore, I was only correcting so there's no confusion.
But it is also in the drop down when you click on someones name.
Actually it's always been on the name dropdown.
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 01:56 PM It seems like it is a lot better and acting like it is supposed to. Can you please tell me what fixed it for you? Was it the TEST skin? What happens if you switch to the other skins?
guava May 15th, 2008, 01:59 PM I found the recent posts from the profile, thanks John.
This test one is working well for me.
I thought the problem might have been from switching tabs, but even that seems to be working. Oddly, it does not always give me the 10 second warning, even if I don't wait.
guava May 15th, 2008, 02:01 PM Can you please tell me what fixed it for you? Was it the TEST skin? What happens if you switch to the other skins?
I switched back to default and it gave me a 10 second warning, even though I hadn't searched since at least a minute prior.
guava May 15th, 2008, 02:03 PM I switched back to default and it gave me a 10 second warning, even though I hadn't searched since at least a minute prior.I don't know if I described properly that AFTER the first 10 second warning, then it will show me new posts without a problem, but it always (or maybe almost always) gives me that 10 second warning to start.
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 02:13 PM OK, good info.
Have you tried the other two skins (OLD SCHOOL NEW BEAT and PLAIN)?
John Stone May 15th, 2008, 02:15 PM Oddly, it does not always give me the 10 second warning, even if I don't wait.
That happens when your last search is still cached on the server and nothing has changed that would produce different results.
MannishBoy May 15th, 2008, 03:40 PM First, things look great and fast. So thanks for the effort and the financial outlay for the servers :tu:
I think I'm seeing something minor. In the new Friends functionality and I think the views of profile, I'm not getting email notifications like I would be led to believe I should in the settings.
Not that I really need them, but I have checks in the boxes that I should receive them that I assume was the default as these features was just added. PM have always sent notifications, although I don't think I've received one since the upgrade.
(Also, I checked my junk folder and nothing is in there.)

I think I'm seeing something minor. In the new Friends functionality and I think the views of profile, I'm not getting email notifications like I would be led to believe I should in the settings.Views of profiles, afaik, will not generate an email. But when someone asks to be your friend you should get an email (default setting). I know this functionality is working because I've received all of my notices, and so have others I've talked to. Also, looking at the mail log file, they are flying out the door.
About all I can suggest is that you double check your email address, spam settings and CP settings. Let me know if you still can't get it working.
MannishBoy May 15th, 2008, 04:23 PM Views of profiles, afaik, will not generate an email.
Oops, I saw the "visitor" email option, not profiles. Sorry. My bad. :o

I am not getting these at all, but the PMs have always worked just fine through spam filters. I'm using my old hotmail account and there is nothing in the filtered mail. It is turned on in CP (which is why I started questioning it).
If it's just me, I wouldn't worry too much. But it's kind of odd.
EDIT: I just clicked the option off, saved, then clicked it back on and resaved. If anybody tries to friend me I'll let you know if that fixed it. Doubt it, but you never know.

OK, I just "broke" our friendship and then asked you to be my friend again to see if the email would be triggered. It was, and here are the log file entries that proves hotmail accepted the email from this server:

Sorry, but the problem has to be on that end.
MannishBoy May 15th, 2008, 04:57 PM Probably hotmail's fault, but they are not showing up in the filtered mail folder as of earlier today. I'll check when I get home and can get into their web interface.
Thanks again for checking.
rtestes May 16th, 2008, 12:19 AM I might not explain this well. I wanted to see past post of an individual. When I clicked his name in a message he had end clicked on find more post by blank, it send me to a page with a vbulletin message which said This forum requires that you wait 10 seconds between searches. Please try again in 9 seconds.
Anytime I use it from a message that they sent I get the same message even if I come back 5 minutes from then. with a different person I get same message.
But if I go to public profile and statistics I get their previous post right away. I am in old school I think.

This has been reported a few times now. I'm waiting on feedback from the other two users.
What I need people who are experiencing this problem to do is switch to the "Plain" skin (using the style selector dropdown box at the very bottom left-hand side of this forum, just below the time). See if the problem persists while using that skin. You can switch back to your preferred skin once you are done testing.

OK, looks like it might be a bug in the custom skins. Please use Plain for a few more hours and tell me if you run into the problem again using that style.
Also, could you try "OLD SCHOOL NEW BEAT" and see if the problem shows in that style?
I'd also appreciate feedback from anyone else who is experiencing the problem before I file a bug report.

Andrew M May 16th, 2008, 10:37 AM -- Bronze+ members will now be able to use animated avatars, profile pictures and signature photos.
I've had the same avatar for years now, and am by no means terribly computer literate. Does this mean that I've been bending rules? Or does it mean that I've another form of file in use?
Andrew.

No, the avatar ability was always there. The other stuff is new.
DFS May 16th, 2008, 10:59 AM I've said it already, but it's worth repeating. The forums are markedly faster now...and it's awesome! When I click to 'go to first unread' it practically goes right there without much wait time. Even in the longer, picture-dense threads.
You rock John, it's rare that someone actually reinvests their time AND money into their product...you'd be a good business owner! (I guess you kinda are, but you know what I mean):)
guava May 16th, 2008, 11:07 AM I've been using plain for the last several hours and haven't gotten problems yet.The "New Posts" link is working okay for me, but I sometimes (but not all the time) am getting the error rtestes mentioned. Would it likely have something to do with the dropdown functionality
Also, and this is minor, from the listing of posts, when I click on the arrow before the thread title to see unread posts in that thread, there is sometimes (in a long thread) a half second hang time at a post earlier on in the thread before it finally figures out where the first unread post is. It would be less distracting if it just took a half second longer to get to the new post.

That happens when the page contains inline images hosted on another server. The forum has to wait for those images to load before it can jump to the right spot, and at that point you're at that server's mercy. There's nothing I can do about that, and also a good reason to use the attachment system instead of hot linking to remote images.
John Stone May 16th, 2008, 12:18 PM It seems that hotmail is still blocking emails from this server. It's the only email service on the planet that is doing that.
This is not happening because anything on this end is improperly configured: the IP of our SMTP server has a proper forward and reverse, and there is a properly set up SPF in our DNS zone file. Further, not one peice of spam has ever been sent from our mail servers in the history of JSF.
No, it seems that hotmail takes a "guilty until proven innocent" approach to "virgin" IPs. The IP address for the SMTP server changed when we upgraded the hardware, and with no past track record for the new IP, hotmail is accepting and then silently dropping mails from JSF. It's completely and totally insane, and a very backwards way to deal with the spam problem. I'm actually pretty furious about it, because it's causing a lot of wasted time and frustration for me and everyone here with a hotmail account.
I've opened a trouble ticket with hotmail, but based on what I've seen from them so far I don't have high hopes for a quick resolution.
If you have a hotmail account then you're not going to get any email from this site until this is resolved. The blame for that falls squarely on the shoulders of your chosen email service.
Ridiculous.

Working on that. :)
John Stone May 17th, 2008, 05:03 PM I created both a hotmail.com and a live.com and, as of this afternoon, I am getting email from our mail server to both accounts.
Could some of you who have hotmail accounts check to see if you are getting mail (PM notifications, friend requests, etc).
Thanks.

Thanks for all the help. If I didn't have so much stuff set up to this ancient hotmail account I'd just use my gmail.
Maybe I should start having my gmail pick up stuff out of hotmail...I think there's a workaround to get that to happen I found a long time ago...
Or just use my own domain, but I've got it pretty spam free and want to keep it that way.

I ditched my mac.com address a while back. Its still alive, but i just set it to forward to my gmail now. the old stuff is there if I need it (I probably don't but I'm paranoid about it LOL), but that acct was SOO spam riddled it wasn't funny. Now gmail handles all the spam so well that I don't know how i lived without it.
Ectomorphic May 17th, 2008, 10:06 PM Now gmail handles all the spam so well that I don't know how i lived without it.
Me too. Gmail accurately catches and filters 99.99% of the spam I get. With Hotmail, I gave up on making spam filters. Gmail is also way faster than Hotmail and Yahoo and it's not riddled from top to bottom, inside and out with damned annoying giant graphical animated gif and flash-based advertisements. Gmail ownz.
DFS May 20th, 2008, 08:50 AM John, I don't know if this is a setting on your end or a standard vBulletin restriction. I was wondering if it's possible to do 3 character searches? I searched "UFC" the other day and I got the following message:
1. Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
Is that just the way it is? :)

Actually I'm glad you brought that to my attention. I need to change the minimum search word length in the MySQL config (done), restart MySQL (done), and then rebuild the fulltext search indexes (underway). Rebuilding the search indexes will take some time, but you should be able to do 2-character searches within the hour.

I appologize for not responding to your question regarding what I was asking. I have not the skills or knowledge of how the software works with our hardware. I'm basically a 'stager' for the raw hardware and software, but I have no knowledge of how what I install makes manifest the information that the public accesses.
I'm just asking you how you learned what you've chosen to tinker with (and made a career).
If this is an inappropriate post, I appologize.

Jokat May 26th, 2008, 02:22 PM Hi John,
Since JSF and just about everything but microsoft.com has been banned at my office what are the chances of a cell phone friendly version of JSF?
I already subscribe to the RSS feeds via my cell phone but I get the feeling that not all the new posts come through this way and besides if I want to read more of a post then it directs me to the forums anyway.
I have a fairly large screen phone but even so the forums are not optimized for cell phone viewing.
I don't know how one goes about it but it would be really great. :tucool:

I can't duplicate this, and have had no other reports of this behavior.
Can you please wrap the signature you'd like to use in CODE tags and post it here? I'd like to look at it. Also, make sure your sig doesn't exceed 1000 characters, including BB code.

The URL you posted is the feedback URL that is at the bottom of most Google ads (where it says "Ads by Google"), which is somewhat near the edit button. I suspect you accidentally clicked that link by accident.

Not accident. I checked three times. On the other hand, I am using the new Opera 9.5 and they might have a bug with mapping the buttons as displayed on screen to the links.

The fact that IE didn't reproduce the bug suggests a bug in the new version of that browser.
thevinery June 21st, 2008, 07:05 AM Hi John-
Just a note that I'm using the blog function and it's fantastic -- one of the things that I found frustrating about keeping a journal in the regular forum was that as much as I loved getting comments and notes from other people, it sometimes spaced my "real" entries with workout details and such really far apart, so it started feeling less like a workout recording tool and more like social time. Having the comments sort of attached to each entry in standard blog format is great.... not that I have any comments yet. :p I can't figure out why more people aren't using them yet!!
Anyway, just a thanks again for all your hard work. As always, am finding the site very useful.

John Stone July 28th, 2008, 01:27 PM There's a link for Quicklinks > View Today's Posts
but if I hit it, it says I must wait 30 seconds if I try to click on it.
Is this some kind of cookies/refresh issue?
Edit: Also, the one under "search" is doing the same thing for me right now.
Just a quick update on this issue for Guava and the handful of other people who were experiencing this phenomenon.
Believe it or not, I didn't forget about you. This was reported as a bug serveral times over the past few months, each time it was shot down as "not a bug/unreproducible" by the developers. Finally, one of the developers himself had this happen to him, and so everyone finally decided to take notice. I've been following along as they've worked the issue and it took months for them to figure out what the problem is, but they finally found the bug earlier today. It will be fixed in the next minor version update, which I think will be released within the next few weeks.
