For some reason, I woke up in the middle of the night last night. I tried to go back to sleep, but within a few minutes I felt some wierd changes going on in my body. My pulse, while steady, felt prominent...like I could feel each beat of my heart clearly.

After a while, my heart-rate started accelerating and racing and my feet and hands were sweaty. This only lasted about 20-30 seconds and my heart-rate returned to normal pretty quickly and the sweat on my hands and feet went away.

Is this a sign of overtraining?

I'm cutting right now and doing a routine similar to Waterbury's TBT as well as cardio on non-lifting days. Earlier that day, I had done a 45 minute full-body workout that included squats, RDLs, BB Rows, Machine bench press, and lateral raises. I started doing FB 3x/week a few weeks ago and now I'm wondering if I'm stressing my CNS too much.

I'd like to know what causes this too. My girlfriend is a cross country runner and she's reported something like this for a while. However, with her it's genetic; her mom has it too. Oddly enough, I've been getting it once in a while for the last 6 months and I don't know why.

I'm not qualified to answer your question seeing as I don't know why I get it myself but I can tell you that I'm not overtraining. I was getting it even while going to the gym 3 times per week for only 50 ish min per day and almost no cardio. If you ever find out what causes it, let me know.

This far, not much to worry about. A lot of things become more noticable when you are trying to sleep in bed.

There are several things that can cause this, including anxiety attacks, although you didn't report a big mood swing. I don't know what it is.

I will say one thing - if you do have a mild anxiety problem, exercise is helpful. And if you have trouble sleeping, my first home remedy is to try a program of breathing squats. There is nothing like learning to breathe well under significant stress to get you ready for a variety of sleep robbing interruptions.

But you could have other things going on - I am talking about one possibility.
