I'm trying to cut from a word document and paste into a thread but it shows up with all the color formatting and such as in this thread....

http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?p=606319&posted=1#post606319

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks
Mike

Save a copy of the word document in plain ASCII format, then open the plaintext version of the file and copy and paste it into your post.

Tried that John and it still shows [color=

I cleared the formatting, saved it as .txt and chose US-ASCII. I'm sure I'm just missing something.

Ideas?

thanks

Sorry, but by definition a plaintext ASCII file can not contain any color information, so what you pasted was not pure ASCII.

I just tried my suggestion and it worked as expected.

Try pasting your data into wordpad, then save the file as ASCII in ".txt" format. You should get a warning that all formatting will be lost. Close the file, re-open the file and then copy & paste it into your post. Preview the post to make sure it's working.

You can edit your existing post rather than making new ones.

Ok that worked. Word must have been adding a color code to it even though I removed the formatting. I guess Wordpad IS still good for something ;-)

Thanks for your patience John.

No problem, that's what I'm here for. :)
