I was wondering how long do the people on this forum wait between a meal and workingout? What are your pre/post workout meals?

for my first few workouts, I had a protein shake right after, but according to Arnolds BodyBuilding Encyclopedia, you should wait a few hours till the next meal.

Currently for me...
30-0 minutes preworkout: Protein powder and oatmeal

Immediately postworkout: Protein powder, oatmeal, milk, 1 banana

Right after, as you've been doing, should be fine. I wouldn't recommend you follow all of his guidelines in that book, though that's a topic for another thread I guess. :)

I think Arnold is definitely an authority of weightlifting [or at least of California], but I agree that guidelines are rules subject to discretion

he says eating before a workout makes less blood available to the muscles, causing cramps. He's less specific about why not to eat after a workout.:read:

You must keep in mind that everything he did was done while taking an exotic cocktail of steroids....that is a different ballgame....

I usually have a protein+fat meal pre-workout. Starchy carbs often give me stomach discomfort that interferes with a workout. Today I finished my pre-workout meal of fillet steak and hard boiled eggs a little under an hour before starting my workout; more often, the delay would be nearer 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Post-workout, I usually have a large portion of whey protein when I get home from the gym (approximately 25 mins after my last exercise ends). I don't have a lot of carbs with it - maybe some berries and Greek strained yoghurt.

I usually eat something light an hour or two before working out, but I avoid eating right before. Then I eat a pretty big dinner within 15-30 minutes of finishing.

I'm not sure.

I buy the normal 2% milk from the grocery store.

10oz after a workout.

And than a protein heavy meal later on.

is creatine safe? I heard it enlarges the muscles temporarily. So it's more like hulking than bulking.....I wonder if creatine's for me, as a begginer

It is safe and proven(creatine monohydrate). Yes you swell from water retention basically, but it does help you lift more, thus helping you make bigger gains. But you will deflate a bit when you go off cycle. Not that you lose what strength you gained. Plus it's pretty cheap compaired to other supps!
